Cheryll and I discovered this unassuming spot visiting the UK and staying nearby. We were greeted and treated to attentive service followed by a variety of dishes that all impressed. The cucumber raitha impressed Cheryll as well as their chili king prawn dish. My chicken tikka was perfectly seasoned leaving us both intent on returning while here. The place is simple, clean, bright and yet comfortable. We would recommend arriving hungry and prepared to tackle some very filling portions.

Best channa I have ever had. Been back in the states for two days and have been searching tirelessly for a recipe that might come close to replicating the Lahore One channa. Attentive service, great umbrella.

WOW! LOVED this place! Yes, it doesn’t have any décor at all, but the food and the kindness of service more than make up for that. Go there and expect to be taken care of. The lamb is divine, the prices more than reasonable, and every flavor is perfectly done. Every rave about this place is spot on! I was charmed and delighted. The flavors intense, the shop spotless, and the staff intent on service.

I would love to add another 5 star review to the raving ones that came before, just because the owners are just so lovely and friendly. However, I just wasn’t that impressed with the food. Everything just seemed rather overcooked, too greasy and tasted much the same. The portions were massive though — you definitely get value for money here. I love the fact that Lahore One is one of the few places left in London that still operates a BYO policy. Apart from the obvious cost benefit, this also means that they serve the most delicious salti lassi — in jugs, I’d happily drink one all by myself!

Very friendly and small restaurant. Food was amazing. I had the lamb kebab, a combination of perfectly cooked lamb with the right combination of spices, wrapped in a soft and warm tikka bread roll. I was also surprised at how cheap it was.

This is my favourite of the punjabi restaurants around here, most of them are good, but this one is phenomenal. Cheap fresh food, friendly staff. It’s just a café tho, if you want staff in matching uniforms, tablecloths etc… then go elsewhere.

Brilliant food at this really low key restaurant. It’s far from fancy, and I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for a special occasion — it’s not the right place to take someone who you’re trying to impress, and snobs should stay well away! However, for fresh, tasty and — most importantly — cheap food, you can’t fault Lahore One. The naan bread is the best I’ve ever had and the mango lassi was a real treat when I went there on one of the hottest days of summer. It’s quite small though, so it may be a good idea to book in advance.

Major pig out spot. So cheap and good. Does not look like anything to speak of from the outside but if you are looking for a good cheap curry in east London this place is great. They don’t serve booze though.

Dont go here for the décor, just the food its excellent. Try the lunchtime biriani only £5 free drink but its a takeaway back to the office. Enjoy.

This is a popular restaurant amongst those in the know. If you require fancy seating and décor then move on. The food itself is well priced and of a good standard. The meat dishes were not spectacular but the channa is very good and authentic and recommended. This is basically a café that does good food at a decent price. Worth a visit.

Lahore One was friendly and small and seriously tasty. Not at all pretentious, it seemed like the servers and cooks were just family, bringing out the tasty dishes to my table. Go here if you want a simple, extremely tasty, expertly spiced Indian meal and don’t care about a fancy environment.(My husband loves this kind of place — I can’t wait to take him the next time we’re in London!)

Before I start this review I should point out that I have an extremely rare sixth sense concerning eating establishments. In a way I’m like a restaurant whisperer or a food channeler. You can often see me walking around east London blindfolded with chop stick divining rods in my hand on the search of the elusive tastyness vibes. Like a moth to a flame I was drawn to Lahore One’s bright red 70’s style neon lit sign. Not to be confused with Lahore, Lahore 2, or the city of Lahore in Pakistan. In a part of London where there’s no shortage of kebab shops this small modest affair stands proudly among a street of erroneous tacky looking outfits. Walking through the doors my senses are greeted by the waft of simmering curries, the sound of lively banter, and the sight of a friendly elderly man gesturing to an empty booth. My sixth sense seemed to serve me well here. Good vibes abound. The menu like the décor is simple and straight forward. No cheap Monet prints on the walls no of burgers, chips, of pizza from the kitchen. I order something with Lamb. My girlfriend orders something with Chichen. We wait. Our food comes one dish at at time. Or to put it another way when it’s ready. Bonus point. The spices dance like voodoo fairies on my tongue. Cumin, coriander, and ginger jam together to a fresh intense tune with delicate lamb providing a tender accompaniment. The nan was hot, straight out of the oven like a buttered sun and the rice was… well… full of ricey goodness. Short of travelling to Lahore in Pakistan this is the next best thing. Don’t waste your time elsewhere in east London. Leave Brick lane to the clueless tourists and head for Lahore. Lahore One that is ;-)

The tandoori(from lamb sausage to chicken to lamb chops) was excellent. All that for a first course? And the main curry courses were excellent, too, particularly the butter chicken. BYO from the off-license next store. The mango lassi will put you over the top. Really very good and much better than anything you’d find in San Francisco.(I can’t speak — yet — for San Mateo and the East Bay.)

Amazing! What a treat. Totally unassuming from the outside, and infact, inside too. What really sets this place apart from the curry house pack is the food. They have a proper ethos — «We cannot afford to be expensive, but we can afford to be the best!» and it seems that all the food done here(with no addititives or pre-prepared sauces) is expertly cooked and spiced. Lahore One attracts a rolling clientele of hungry suited city workers and the local Indian population alike, which is great to see. Everyone’s seated at simple wooden tables and benches. The manager(Jim I think) is absolutely charming and I was told by two diners that the kebab rolls are«the best in the East End». We had a really fine selection of curries, I tried only the vegetarian options, and they were as good as I’ve ever had. Found it really beautiful approach to food and serving. Basically if you’re a fan of curry, this is probably one of the best places in London. Say no more. If you’re not a fan of curry, come here to see what all the fuss is about. It’s open throughout the week between 12 am and 12 pm and I think it’s a good idea to book or get there early if you’re going in the evening. Can’t sell this place highly enough…

I have to admit I always feel an uncanny tendency to be positive when it comes to write a comment, but my recent and only try at this indian kebab house ended up being much of a disappointment I will not keep just for myself. Being led by the advice of a die-hard local fan my peckish friend and I dropped by this all-day-round busy eaterie to face a rather short menu and easy to beat prices, however relying on their culinary skills to counterweigh that. We were not very bold and just ordered safe bets, but they truely failed to deliver; undercooked keema nan, run-of-the-mill shish kebabs, coarse rice, and a stingy byriani dish. The range of sauces available is also clearly below standard on top of that. On the plus side the waiter was bringing jugs of tap water to fight the chilli down and kept the bill low enough to start thinking on a extra meal somewhere else-how about next door?-without blowing our stiff Friday night budget. In a few words a quite forgettable experience that keeps me wondering why this franchise is still spreading at the speed of light across East London.
