I loved this bar. We went early, probably about 7pm, but it was pretty busy for the time. We got a seat by the window and enjoyed a drink. It’s nice cause my brother & I could hold a conversation [ie. the music wasn’t blaring] but the place still had a really awesome vibe. They day before I left London I know there was a huge street party going on at Kazbar, that later moved down to the Two Brewers. So it’s awesome to know they do great events like that.

The sister bar to Escape in Soho and Kudos in Charing Cross, Kazbar is undoubtedly the best gay bar south of the river. Spread over two floors the bar is stylish if somewhat small. Like Escape it is known for having VJ’s instead of DJ’s and with a late license the music gets clubbier as the hours draw on. Amazingly for the gay scene, which does like to divide itself into categories, the bar seems to appeal to gay men and women of all ages and types. The small bar is has excellent, quick staff and good prices. In summer the front window opens and there is outside seating, though most people just spill out into the nearby street. The bar also hosts a very popular street party every year so those planning a trip over should check the dates and, if you’re in town, get your asses down there.

Cool gay bar which has recently been refurbished. Friendly clientelle and staff. Pop videos play from LCD screens dotted around the bar. Great starting point for a gay night out in South London with the Two brewers down the road and the gay clucbs of Vauxhall just 10 mins on the tube.

Camper than Kylie singing YMCA, please do not think that all gay bars are like this! With constant music videos playing in the background you find yourself getting distracted from conversation to watch the hypnotic rhythms of Madonnas gyrations. Which could be a good thing as it also distracts you from the middle aged men staring at you from their dark corner. I popped in there for a drink after work once with my flatmate and some guy came and sat on our table and asked my friend if she used to be a man! Go with a friend if you must, it’s safer and then you have someone to laugh about it with afterwards!

The Kazbar is probably the best gay bar south of the river. Spread over two floors and with plenty of seating considering it’s small size, the bar attracts a mixed, relaxed crowd and the place, especially at the weekends, can get extremely busy, spilling out onto the street during the summer. Drinks prices are affordable, double measures as standard, and the staff are very friendly and quite quick, which in itself makes a refreshing change to most bars nowadays. They have a VJ(a video DJ) playing most nights with a huge screen on one wll and television dotted about the place to keep the pre-club energy at it’s best. The bar often has drinks promotions and with the late license on the weekends it’s the perfect bar to meet before heading for the later clubs.
