Karpar’s Seafood Bar and Grill at the Savoy

A very sophisticated feeling bar without being pretentious. We walked in (no queue, though I hear there can be at other times) on a Sunday evening and had a lovely cocktail while listening to the jazz pianist to celebrate our anniversary. At £14.50 for any alcoholic cocktail it’s not a place to go if you are feeling skint, but makes for a great special-​occasion visit.
The Savoy Daisy cocktail was very enjoyable a little like sangria. My other half had what was essentially an oreo milkshake, from the virgin cocktail list (6 choices)
The waitress was briefly over-​attentive, asking if we wanted anything twice in quick succession as we were nearing the end of our drinks, but after that she was very good and left us to enjoy sitting and soakiong up the atmosphere without pressuring us to pay the bill.
One thing to note they do enforce the no sportswear rule. You can wear pretty much anything else, though most men had a shirt on. But jeans are fine. Trainers will get you politely and discretely refused entry.

La classe
Cet hôtel c’est la grande classe. Les prix sont complètement fous mais pour une nuit le luxe ça fait du bien. Un vrai palace avec aucune contrariété et un service très soigné.

So british…
Loin de la Jet Set et autres exentricitées londoniennes, le Savoy est «le» haut lieu de la tradition anglaise. Même si les couloirs sont un peu défraichis, même si c’est un peu «old fashion», c’est le top du chic ! Commencez par prendre un verre au piano bar… grande class; prenez ensuite un petit bain dans votre superbe salle de bain rétro; puis allez diner au «Grill» certainement la meilleure table de Londres. Tout cela a malheureusement un prix…
