Disgusting poor service! I ordered takeaway from the restaurant and was appalled by the amount of food I recieved for the amount I paid. I placed an order for crispy shredded beef at an extortionate price of £15.30 and received half a portion. I called to ask why but was greeted with rudeness and was told that I am ridiculous and had the phone put down on me. I will never be ordering from this establishment again. As a paying customer info not expect to be verbally abused and recieve bad service!

We live close to this one, so seeing their sign claiming to have been reviewed as the best dim sum in the UK, we were curious. It really wasn’t a good experience. The staff seemed clueless and slow, dim sum offered was completely different than what was offered on the menu available online. We ended up ordering mains and all four of them were really bland and not entirely enjoyable. After we finished our meal we waited for over 20 minutes for the bill, though we had asked for it twice. Frustrated we went up to the bar in the front and had to wait another ten minutes for our bill to be ready. Especially considering they charge a 10÷ service fee, the service really was sub par and I will definitely not be visiting here again.

I understand why this place has received such poor reviews and only 2.5 stars. Despite(one of the) owners working very hard(white hair Guy in a suit and tie), most of staff are pretty clueless and have no idea what they are doing. Very lazy too I feel. Food wise, it is a hit or miss. Being a Hong Konger, we are very particular about our dim sum and the freshness of the food served to us.(We can tell) there are many occasions, espeically on a weekday, that overnight dim sum is served, which is pretty awful yet common for Chinese restaurants in London. I visited on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and the restaurant was very busy. Apart from the owner who gave attentive service, the rest of staff were again day dreaming and clueless. The food today was mediocre. Steamed dishes were OK, but one of the«za Leung», fried dough was not fresh.

Like one of the previous reviewers, I also travelled to JMX(from the other side of the city) in order to try ‘the best dim sum in London’. While my experience wasn’t quite as bad as the others, it was by no means substantially different from a normal dim sum lunch anywhere in Chinatown. There were some slightly more unusual items on the menu(seafood and mango croquettes, Shanghai dumplings and some tasty cuttlefish cakes). But most of it was exactly the same as I’ve enjoyed at pretty much any other dim sum restaurant in the same price range(£3 — £4.50). The har gau, roast pork puffs, glutinous rice in lotus leaves etc. were all standard. I certainly won’t be spending another hour and a half to visit it again and would suggest that anyone with reasonable access to Gerrard St needn’t bother either.

Was reviewed by Giles from The Times to be one of the best Chinese in town or all if UK… We went for dim sum on a Saturday and it was horrible. It is in a way very authentic — for really cheap street food in Hong Kong… Ingredients are really cheap and low quality… And everything is slightly sloppy… We found most of the dishes not enjoyable as ingredients are really low quality but every dish is quite large portion. If you are not picky(I.e. Can eat Chinese take away) and big eater, this may be your place. The place looked quite packed for a Saturday dimsum. I tried — BBQ pork puff: quite good pastry and pork but dough is too think and off proportion of pork and pastries — har gow(shrimp dumpling): very fishy shrimp and slightly salty. Good overall but felt like it was one of purchased frozen hargow… Not making their own… — Chung fun with dough: good but very low quality Chung gun with not enough texture and thickness is not right(not enough layers) not enough sauce either — chicken and vegetables chow mein(crispy noodles): good portion and sauce but chicken so disgusting that I cannot eat it and all vegetables feel like it has not been washed and cut…

HORRENDOUS! ordered house special and had to explain to 3 members of staff what that is as they kept telling me «house fried rice» When the food came I WASNOT able to pay by card as my card was not registered to my student address. I had to go cash point! The house special came in 2 seperate containers. One plain rice and and the other like warm gravy and cooked meats There was 1 king prawn, 2 over cooked scallops, pork chicken and beef in Bland gravy I WOULDNOTRECOMMENDORORDERFROMAGAIN !!!
