If you’ve got kids in London, as my French wife says, you spend most of your time in John Lewis. Let’s face it, they have good stock, the staff are well trained, and you can even take back an opened bottle of baby food and get a replacement. However, since this gem of a NW London shop /café /baby feeding station has opened, we’ve been spreading the love. Best things about the place: — there’s a great range of essential baby /toddler equipment, toys, beds, prams, furniture. — they’re incredibly patient, and have to be when you’re trying to work out whether a maclaren or an uppababy is best for your little treasure. — customer service is top notch. — they run great classes, ie for expectant dads ‘this is a baby’ What’s even more compelling is several times we’ve gone in their deliberately to ‘buy local’, and expecting /not minding to pay more, but come away really surprised that they have a sale on and beat most prices online! I wouldn’t complacently expect a bargain all the time, but even if it’s RRP I would really recommend all of North London mums(or nannies) spending more time, and money in here. Parking is a little bit of a pain, there’s some pay and display near by. Free after 1.30pm on Saturday. If you’re there for a couple of hours, let the little treasures also run around the Swiss Cottage Sports Centre ‘water park’. As a final note, our last purchase was this week and we found a manufacturer’s fault within a day. The shop replaced our item with no quibbles, and we remain happy, and loyal customers.
