Wonderful place if you come here to enjoy the music, some drink, lovely food and have a good evening. It’s a ‘evening out’ kinda place. Dinner was delicious. For starter I had a lovely halloumi tart. For main a delicious HUGE potato and salmon fish cakes with yummy yam(sweet potato) fries. Everything was pretty decently priced except I felt the fries were a little steep. The night was lovely, the music was great, the décor and lights very atmospheric. Only a few down points really, the tables are very close together to squeeze people in. You have to walk in aisle grid formation to get anywhere and it’s very tight single file one way type of situation. But easily manageable. The staff are extremely busy but most are lovely and very sweet working hard. The ‘shhushing’ by staff was a little distracting during the performances and put a bit of a ‘on edge’ to the atmosphere. I felt there were many structures like this that were put into place for reasons and experience of past situations(another being staff collecting payment during the performance.) Before you know it you’ve been sat in Hideaway for 5 and a half hours but it feels like you’ve been there 2. It’s a kind of liminal space you disappear into.

This review is for the café — We regularly go for sunday brunch as the vegetarian lunch is one of the best around. The portions have gotten a little smaller, which is a shame, but it is still more food than most people can eat! Great place, though the manager could be a little nicer.

The music was a little bit loud, we waited a long time to be served, my boyfriend’s burger had just half of a chicken breast and was very dry… In general, I think it is expensive for what you get, but my pork was nice.

This is a part of the Hideaway group, this is the Jazz Café in Streatham High Road. I have moved the map point to where I think it should be, but haven’t corrected the postcode.

Fantastic jazz club, hidden off the main road near Streatham rail station. It’s very much about the music, with talking discouraged during performances, although there is a bar area where you can chat. You can check the website to see what’s on, usually a good selection of jazz, they also do comedy nights. Didn’t eat when I visited, but menu & food looks good, if a little unimaginative. Cocktails were great. They have opened a Jazz café on the High Road, for more casual dining.
