I’ve had drinks here many times but food not so much. A friend and I found a booth, they’re nice and intimate for when you want a catch-up with a friend… or maybe even somehting more romantic, I guess. Hmm, although, not really somewhere I would consider for a romantic rendezvous. But it gives you some privacy. Actually, maybe it’s best I describe them. The booth«walls or pettions are quite high, maybe six foot and circular. So, not disturbed by other customers and you’re never really completely seen from the rest of the bar. This is all sounding very cloak and dagger. Honestly! It was just an innocent catch-up! Anyway, our young and eager waitress approached us straight away and asked if we wanted food or drink. We wanted both. We ordered drinks and said that we were in no hurry to order food. When she brought our drinks and asked if we wanted to order. We explained again, we wanted to wait. A few minutes later she returned and asked again and then a few minutes later again. Finally, she got it. Don’t get me wrong, she was very sweet and pleasant. Just a little over attentive. When the food arrived it was hastily plopped in front of us by a waiter. I had crab arancinis for starters. Not breadcrumbed — interesting. I cut into it and melted cheese oozed out. I didn’t taste much crab and there was very little rice. Not my idea of an arancini. Then I had the crab linguine for main. Nasty! Small portion, covered in rocket leaves. I tucked in and quicly found it to be a very bland, disappointing affair. Dry flakes of crab meat sprinkled over the top, no sauce. There were some chilli flakes but I could barely taste them and paremsan shavings. My verdict: It’s alright for drinks but not food.

Henry’s promote themselves corporate lunch venue, but I would never take my clients or team there. During our team visit, the service was slow(over 45 minutes wait for a club sandwich and an hour for a burger), the quality of the ingredients was poor, with the bread being so rough it scraped the roof of my mouth. When we asked for the bill, the waitress wasn’t capable of adding up what each person ate, so we had to work it out ourselves. Any venue in Canary Wharf should be mindful that people don’t have all day to sit and wait for their orders. I’d go somewhere else next time.

Nice pub on West India Quay. Cool décor and atmosphere(I imagine through the week it will be different given that it is right at Canary Wharf). Friendly and helpful staff. Awesome cocktails — average price for London. I liked the cosy rounded booths and cushions! It made my girly catch up with my best friend very enjoyable! I think downstairs there is also somewhere to dance… We heard loud music coming from down there but didn’t check it out. We were more into chilling, and Henry’s was a perfect place for that!

Henry’s Bar is situated in the row of bars and restaurants along West India Quay a short walk from Canary Wharf. I remember coming to this bar back when it was Bar 38. Its not changed a great deal since then but its still a reasonable bar. If your in the area with a hangover on a Saturday(as I often seem to be) and its good weather then pop along to Henry’s and sit outside for their All Day Breakfast. Its way better than the Wetherspoons further along the Quay(although it is nearly £10). Not a bad way to get over the previous nights excesses. One point of interest here is the rather strange Gentlemans toilets. I’ll just say if its busy then its quite friendly in there…
