Dire. The décor is poor, the service is poor, the drinks are poor. Would not recommend.

I came here recently for the first and only time so far. After a search for a place to watch the football, the ad on the website sounded great. The place is nice, well decorated, nice bar area and nice seating with an open area outside shared with other venues. There wasn’t a great range of beers/lagers and there own brew, which I tried, was not one of the best. Hadn’t tried the food, but didn’t look like much for the price and the staff seemed quite reserved and not as well trained as some places. An OK place.

The Heeltap has the potential to be so much more. It’s down an old cobble-stoned lane. But the contemporary, chic décor feels wrong in those environs. And then there’s the big screens, lots of them, all around the bar like it’s trying to be a sports bar, but it’s not. The place has no character or atmosphere. The food menu is very limited and uninspired — burgers and steaks. The plus points to this place is the cobble-stoned courtyard with seating. The service is competent and polite. And the prices very fair. Still, I’m not remotely motivated to visit the place again.

Visited here mainly as I was told there were plenty of TVs for the football. You are well catered for as there’s something in every corner. There’s a nice suntrap outside which is shared with The George. Sadly they let themselves down with the food and drink. There’s only 5 beers on tap, one of which is their own and it’s not a great selection. The food was fairly standard pub fare. Overall it serves a purpose but won’t become a regular haunt

I came here with a few friends to get some drinks and food to watch the Olympics. Drinks were okay — not a great beer selection and food was ok. I probably will come back during a busier time to see if it’s actually worth it.

Really pleasantly surprised by this place. Heeltap is clean and modern, not like a lot of the pubs in the area. Everything looked quite new. It’s located down a little alley with recycling bins and other bins — you would expect someplace a little more run down. I was here to watch a football game so the TV screens were key. There are 3 large Samsungs that are strategically placed. The girl behind the bar was really nice — I asked her to turn on the sound and she was happy to do so and went ahead and put the volume up to a level I could enjoy without disturbing others who had no interest. There’s a wine list that I didn’t look at and a food menu which looked like it had typical upscale pub grub such as steak frites. I was more interested in the small plates menu(see photo) and ordered the squid on sourdough and Cajun sweet potatoes. Both were okay but less than memorable, even though the ingredients tasted fresh and well put together. Asahi was on tap and appreciated. The outdoor beer garden area is really nice and is adjacent to the garden area for the pub next door, The George. It was a nice large space that I will be making an effort to re-visit.

Heeltap & Bumper is a sophisticated bar that has a great atmosphere, perfect for informal business meetings or just chillaxing with friends in the evening. When I first set foot in this bar, I feel like entering a hotel reception; the décor is modern and classy. I thought to myself instantly that this place must be quite pricey and that was both right and wrong. Normally this place is not where you would get ‘cheap booze’, yet on some days, they do 2 for 1 cocktails, which I find very attractive. You would get 2 cocktails for approximately 8 pounds! Although the selection is not very varied, you get some of the classics white russian martini, cosmopolitan etc Yet it is indeed a good opportunity for you and your friends and enjoy and chat over a cocktail for a reasonable price. On other nights, the alcohol is perhaps less affordable, as the target consumers are mostly business executives who just got off work. On the whole, this place is worth noticing and try out, especially with those attractive offers.

Another Davy’s wine bar but one which shares a courtyard with The George Inn. The interior is clean, bright and modern albeit a little antiseptic. One of the reasons I come here is that it’s close to London Bridge and a convenient place to meet friends. The main reason I come here is because the bar in the George Inn is far too small and the service is appalling. I don’t like queues and doubley so in pubs. Service at the Heeltap is quick and generally with a smile. Again, as a Davy’s it sells Davy’s 1870 lager which is really Holsten Pils, Old Wallop which is really Shepherd Neame Spitfire and Asahi which is really Asahi. All in all, I quite like this place, you can sit in the courtyard, look at the George Inn in all its galleried loveliness, get a table and table service while avoiding the queues and the standing room only space mere inches away.
