Best pizza I’ve had in London. The local isn’t great but the food more than makes up for that.

I’d really recommend the pizza at Hana Maria. They serve good wood fire pizza on a yummy sourdough(if sourdough is your bag, it is mine). The toppings tasted fresh and delicious. I like my pizza’s simple so I shared a ½ metre, half and half with my husband. That’s a quarter of a metre of ‘Bufalina Regina’ with gorgeous buffalo mozzarella, basil leaves, and cherry tomatoes, and another quarter of the ‘Ortolana’ pizza, which was a very tasty wood roasted aubergine and sun dried tomato option. We ate in as my other half can’t stand cold pizza takeaway. I wouldn’t say Hana Maria had the finest dining in atmosphere, but it had a chilled back dive pizza bar vibe. I could hear kids TV in the background every time the music quieted down between songs. The walls are decorated with someone’s 1980s record collection– Billy Idol, 10cc, B52s, Fleetwood Mac, Blondie, Adam Ant, Ian Dury. I could keep going on, it was fun to spot all the sleeve art. You can get boring circular pizzas too(12″ etc), and as I mentioned pizzas by the half meter. The pizzas were so good, I didn’t want to stop. Now if only you could get pizza by the metre too.

I do NOT recommend delivery from Venezia. It was quite possibly the worst bunch of delivery food ever dropped to my doorstep! So sad… We were craving Italian, and wiped out from a long week… so we quickly did a search and located Venezia. Great. Order placed and 1 hour later… our food arrives. I first notice the«KING» Prawns. These cost 8 quid. I was expecting that it would be a few of them, maybe some nice dipping sauce. Nothing too fancy. What I got? A tin with TWOSHRIMP. Two. Sad little shrimpies. Floating in some type of super greasy red sauce, with cut up sausage that looked like hot dog chunks. TWOSHRIMP. I was baffled. It was bad. And cold. I threw the whole thing in the trash. 8QUIDINTHETRASH! The salads were also quite small for their price, but fresh at the very least and containing the right allotment of items. No complaints there. The pizza was good looking, if not a bit dry. But the King Prawns… awful. Really, not acceptable. So for about 50… I ate a salad, and we groaned that we should’ve just run out and gotten kebabs around the corner. Perhaps Venezia is great for takeaway or dine-in(the other reviews seem to think so!) and their web site is quite easy to order from… but I would never order again. KINGPRAWNFAIL!

Really unimpressed. I ordered well before closing time but got a call from their driver to say it was too far to come. We’re in the catchment area and the order was accepted by the manager when I called. Thoroughly unacceptable service and I won’t be trying again.

Well nice pizzas. They have a proper oven, and you order by the meter(so imperial martyrs won’t be happy heh!). They also have normal pizzas in inches and all, but you can basically get enough for 3 people with a metre, and they’ll chuck in two«flavours». They do deliveries, but you can also stay there, they have a handful of tables. It’s quite cozy(maybe a bit too much! It’s really tiny!). They have salads and other things, but we only had pizza. Pizza is thin and crispy, and generally, very good.

Just really damned fine pizza. I like Firezza well enough, but Venezia do thinner and crispier bases and equally top-notch fresh ingredients, so they win. Always v friendly too…

Stroud Green Road can you believe it, has 3 great pizza places. This is, or rather I should say, was the best kept secret. ‘Wood fired oven’ and ‘authentic’ seem to be the two phrases best loved by pizza restaurants. Lord knows, if you don’t have a wood oven you’re no one in this business. Do your pizza by the metre and maybe you have something that others don’t have. Offer parma ham bread, or squash, pesto and cherry tomato bread or goats cheese and aubergine bread as starters and you definitely have one up on the competition in my book. Venezia has it all and more. The variety on their menu is extraordinary, salivating and so very very exciting. Pizza porn. What could be better. I first tried their pizza when searching for an alternative to my beloved Il Bacio who’d deliver to Tufnell Park(just out of reach for Il Bacio who won’t deliver here ‘cos the pizza would get cold –respect). Up popped Venezia from a legubrious list of Papa Johns and Dominoes. Keeping it simple we ordered regular garlic bread and a nepolitana. We weren’t hugely impressed by this daliance truth be told. Their magic thermal pizza carry transport bag things seem not to do the job as well as they’d like to claim. But undeterred and naturally adventurous we decided on paying them a visit. Opinion revived by putting a foot in the door and eating in house. This is where their strenghts lie. Great food, great place, lovely staff and now a drinks licence. What more could you want?

Finsbury Park? is the response I inevitably get when I tell someone about the best place to have a pizza in town — better even than Soho’s Spaccanapoli, my previous favourite. This place also scores highly for wine at £10 per bottle — you can eat like a king(share the risotto, it’s vast) for less than £20 per head inclusive. Owner and staff are charming and friendly; committed to quality and a nice atmosphere. They deliver as far as the City; you won’t find better quality there so find a park bench if you’re in the square mile and get a delivery to that.

This pizzeria does great takeaway and is very fast. The pizzas themselves are wood fired and the ingredients both fresh and delicious, although I feel offering deep pan and thick crusts is pandering a little to larger, corporate chains — not naming any names! Or perhaps that’s because I’m too much of a purist. The pizza arrived within 30 minutes, and the delivery boy was polite and had change. I shared the Vizietto(Mozzarella, wood roast courgettes, goat’s cheese, red onion, cherry tomatoes, garlic and olives) with a friend and a parma ham salad which was delicious and great value for money. Comes highly recommended.

Great to find this place on Qype! Delicious wood fired pizzas(some of the best in London in my book). Nearest tube is Finsbury Park, but if you are travelling by train you can also go to Crouch Hill. Try the Quattro Gusti. Delicious!
