Extremely busy on a Friday night, as expected. Staff at the bar were very slow and took forever to serve. Managed to find a table upstairs. Won’t return in a hurry.

Very spectacular Wetherspoon’s pub located on a corner site above Liverpool Street railway station on the Bishopsgate side. I am not normally a huge fan of Wetherspoons, but this one is a bit special! Clearly built in the heyday of railway mania by The Great Eastern Railway, this is very grand indeed! The interior design is clearly of Nouveau French influence and very ornate. There is plenty of gold in evidence with fancy mirrors and paintings. There are chandelier type lights hanging down from the elaborate ceiling and a circular bar with a balcony above. The only drawback with Hamilton Hall is the fact that it is a very popular meeting place after work for the young office workers from the nearby City!

One of my favorite JD Wetherspoons pubs, Hamilton Hall was named after the Lord Chairman of the Great Eastern Railway. This pub is two-stories, featuring a grand ceiling and ornate French Renaissance gold accents on the walls. The top floor has its own more modern bar, with a good selection of ales and special Christmas ones for the holiday season. It doesn’t feel like Spoons at all, with large white, window-paned doors, many mirrors, along with soft blue painted walls which goes well with the murals. Hamilton Hall is in the corner of the Bishopsgate entrance to Liverpool Street Station and is packed on Friday evenings as people pour into here after work. I personally love the interior and the fact that the all too familiar strange, trippy carpet has been replaced with checkerboard tiles and parquet flooring. Great to meet up with friends and you can almost always get a seat and a cheap pint without being subjected to the usual brawls that Wetherspoons in less nice areas are so well known for.

Situated at the far outside to Liverpool Street Station and up a flight of escalators inside this Wetherspoons pub I was met with a large area and plenty of places to sit down including a upstairs seating, I had to say I was very impress with the mosaic decorated ceilings, which quite reminded me of something you’d see in Cathedral. Prices were slightly dearer, than your average run of the Mill Wetherspoons pub. I guess as this is running in line with the location but still a very good pub worth popping in for pint, with staff being polite when serving you and I noticed again they was definitely on the ball for taking away your empties once you had done drinking from them.

My friends and I grabbed drinks here after dinner a week ago. I thought the location is convenient — literally steps away from the Liverpool underground and the space is big to accommodate groups. Lots of beer choices. Seats available at 9:30pm on a weeknight, it works just fine as a pub to catch up with friends.

Monopoly Pub Crawl — Stop #4 — Liverpool St Station(Railway) There are a number of choices for pubs in this area, two of which are inside the station itself. My preference is for the Hamilton Hall which is integrated into the corner of the station. It’s a massive pub with a lofted dining area as well. They have a full range of beers and ales(including two bespoke Christmas ones — Reinbeer and Christmas Crackers) and so many bar staff that they appear to be standing shoulder to shoulder slinging drinks. A word of warning — this place can get absolutely rammed, particularly if there is a football match on as the massive number of TVs and abundant seating make this a favourite place to watch the game. However, the benefit of such football fans is that there usually is a police presence near the pub. So take this opportunity to get the«Go to Jail» spot on the Monopoly board signed. Although, if you are dressed as a criminal, don’t be surprised if they arrest you!

I like the Hamilton Hall. It’s a JDW pub so you pretty much know what you’re getting yourself into. About ten casks on offer. Located right next to Liverpool Street Station so it’s pretty easy to nip in here for the cheeky half.

Give its location so close to Liverpool Street Station, I half expected this place to be packed to the rafters. Then again there was a little voice within me also telling me that a lot of city boys probably think they are too superior to go to Wetherspoon’s. And it was right. Sure it was very busy, but not as bad as other pubs in the area. There is an upstairs family area, but you don’t get too many families hanging out in the city, so the upstairs area was the place to go for a quieter experience. And as I was planning to enjoy(or not) their Vindaloo curry, I prefer that there are not too many people around to witness my suffering. And I did suffer. Hottest thing I’ve ever eaten. Luckily a desperate and urgent request for a glass of tap water was not turned down(yes the upstairs area has its own bar too, with a decent selection of drinks(5 ales). I have often wondered if I am too fussy with my curry, because I haven’t found many curry houses I like in London, but given that I generally like the Spoon’s curries(which are just reheated I guess) I must just have been unlucky with the places I’ve been to. I’ll go for a less hot option next time, but there will likely be a next time.

Noisy place in the evening, lots of hard drinkers have one for the road or rail. But you can usually find a seat, as people don’t stay that long. Of an afternoon it can be pleasant. For a while, the men’s toilets were the worst I’ve seen in UK, for months they had plywood on the floor and 2 urinals are blocked off, the place smelt of urine, thankfully they’ve now fixed it.

Hamilton Hall is the default after-work pub destination. If you want to get a quick drink after your shift ends and you work in the Liverpool Street area then this may be an OK place to get a pint with your coworkers. Really though, it’s not that great of an experience. It is always packed after the clock hits 5PM and the drinks aren’t cheap(£4 a pint). I like ambience, uniqueness. This is a typical place, with a typical vibe in a prime location for all those travelling in and out of Liverpool Street station who want to grab a pint before they hop on a train.

If you’ve read any of my previous reviews, you’ll know of my enthusiasm for Weatherspoons pubs. I still get excited at the prospect of gin and tonic for £1.70, it’s such a fantastic concept. This large, perennially busy Spoons in Liverpool Street station is no exception. It’s huge, with towering tall ceilings, elaborately decorated, that adds an air of sophistication that is sometimes lacking with pubs of this ilk. The perfect place to kill some time when waiting for a train, or the perfect excuse for a drink when walking past/out of the station, i think everybody would benefit from a lot more JDWS in their lives!

Hamilton Hall is a great pub. Sitting upstairs at Liverpool Street station it is the perfect meeting point. In fact, you’ve probably met somebody there already. As a Tottenham fan, this is one of the places to head to for a pre-match drink. It has an electrifying atmosphere as hundreds of Spurs fans pile in for a pint and to sing some songs. It’s especially buzzing before big games, i.e. against the Arsenal or a big cup game. The food is good; and it gets brought to you surprisingly fast; even when they are manically busy. I dunno, maybe they have it all ready to microwave in thirty seconds. But if so, I don’t mind, it usually tastes pretty darn good! It’s cheap, it’s full of atmosphere — and it is also useful to know for this one nugget of wisdom; toilets. Rather than pay 30p to use the toilets at Liverpool Street Station; head upstairs to Hamilton Hall; and guiltlessly stroll past the bar to use their toilets. Sweet.

The marvellously named Hamilton Hall is located at Liverpool Street Station and is another example of the ever-expanding JD Wetherspoon empire. During the day it plays host to many of the thousands of businessmen who commute to this area of the city on a daily basis, as well as a assorted mix of travellers and tourists. At lunch and clocking-off time things can become absurdly crowded so it’s probably best to avoid these times. At weekends things are more subdued and this can be an ideal spot for a relatively cheap drink. Unlike most other Wetherspoons establishments, Hamilton Hall is actually pretty easy on the eye stretching over two floors by means of an elegant spiral staircase. The bar staff are pretty brusque but one can hardly expect people who are this busy to pause and smile at every customer. Drinks, although expensive for Wetherspoons, are decidedly cheaper than most other places in the vicinity. All in all not too shabby.

I had a leaving lunch at this place and it was nice but you have to get there early to get seats upstairs as it gets very very busy in there at lunchtimes. The food is nice and well priced as well as the drinks.
