Great Western Studios fairly recently moved from their location on Great Western Road to this even more remote location in Alfred Road. Having never made it to the original site, I am now a regular. The building is perched underneath the Westway flyover and rather unassuming from the outside(all you see is a black wall when you pass it on the canal towpath) but very impressive once you are past the security gates. I have attended mosaic classes at weekends here when, unfortunately, the café is closed. They also host an Open Studios weekend twice a year which is well worth a visit. The last one has just passed, and I managed to find several Christmas presents, as well as a beautiful new painting for myself. Lovely mixture of artists and designers.

A bit off the beaten path but worth the effort to visit. Great exhibitions, lovely open space, interesting environment to see live in the flesh artists and designers in their natural habit and doin’ their thang. Went here recently to catch the opening of the Alien Nation exhibition:
Was impressed! This is one art space that I’m gonna keep on my radar(and dream about being able to actually have my own studio at)!
