Despite the 4 stars, it’s actually a 4.5 stars and here’s the story why. G&W is a solid competitor to Fernadez and Wells, Foxtrot and Ginger, and also Flat white, and all the other cool coffee joints around Soho. I’ve tried coffee from most and they’re all above average top quality fare. With G&W, my first visit, I was BLOWN away by the cappuccino to go. It was lovely and smooth and generally just one of the best cappuccino’s I’ve had.(Top spot is still Marwood in Brighton) and the cute cup with the voltaire goat helped too. Second day I went, cappuccino wasn’t as spectacular, party in my mouth wow but solid nonethless. They ran out of voltaire cups. Sad Face. But definitely one of my top recommendations for coffee in Soho.(I might be a convert from F&G now. *gasp*) There’s also a Barista with a super cool name.

After I’ve never really made it to Ginger & White’s Hampstead branch, I at least checked out their somewhat new Soho location recently. Ginger & White in Soho is located on a quite little street just off Beak Street. It is a small coffee shop with some seating at the windows and a few tables in the back. At Ginger & White you get handcrafted Square Mile coffee at its best in a relaxed atmosphere. Besides coffee, they also offer fresh juices and a selection of sweet and some savoury food. Just all you need to take a rest from busy central London. All in all, Ginger & White in Soho is a nice addition to the area, although this part of London is by no means short of quality coffee shops.

The food & coffee are very nice but the staff let this place down. On my last 2 visits there I was kept waiting 15 – 20 mins for a takeaway coffee while the staff fumbled around even though they weren’t busy. I took my Mother in there for some coffee & cake the other day and the guy who served me was incredibly obnoxious & curt to the point where my Mother felt uncomfortable staying. If the owners want people to return to their café then they should ensure their staff are treating customers with some respect.

They make bread and butter pudding from croissants. Bread and butter pudding with CROISSANTS. Croissant-based bread and butter pudding. Bread. Butter. Toffee. Croissants. AREYOUREADINGME? I don’t think you understand. I’ll break it down: A) All of your sweet-toothed dreams come true. B) The greatest pudding ever made. C) The greatest obstacle to a diet ever made. D) Fully worth no longer fitting into skinny jeans. E) Fully worth contracting type 2 diabetes. F) Probably illegal. G) Nigella’s greatest match. H) The happiest I have been with a fork in my mouth. They also have other cakes and savoury food and delicious coffee and feel exclusive because they’re on Silver Place which is totes secretive and more seating than you’d expect so it’s all cosy and special but you can still sit down but frankly that’s so utterly inconsequential that I don’t even care. DON’T EVENCARE. Bread and butter pudding maaaaaade froooooom croissaaaaaaaaants. I need a lie down.

So, yet another chic coffee shop in Soho. Now I’ve got, 1,2,3,4… way too many to count within a stones throw from home, but this one’s somewhat special. I watched it «grow up». From when they moved the stairs to them decorating the walls with a Union Jack. As I understand it, the food’s not made on site, but it still looks pretty dang good. This is Britain’s retaliation at all the antipodean shops in the area. I sat down and ordered a latte. Certainly not before inquiring about the wifi situation first. Oh, you have wifi?! Good, I’m coming in. Too many of the other stores in the area don’t have wifi. Overall, first impressions are good, I had a croissant with my latte this morning. Coffee is good, but like all soho stores, it’s now become like a standard good. Now don’t get me wrong, being from Seattle, the great coffee stores are now all over the place and make independent coffee stores almost boring, but that’s what’s happening in Soho. The great places are just popping up everywhere, making it difficult to actually differentiate between the few. Anywho, the croissant is good, and the coffee is delish. I’d say, if I had to choose in the area, this place would still be behind my favorite Foxcroft, but ahead of Fernandez and tied with Speakeasy. Coffee’s still better at Speakeasy, but food’s better here.

Ginger & White brought their brilliant well crafted coffee to the Soho!!! For those who familiar with their branches in Hampstead and Belsize you’ll feel at home, you can get the same great coffee, delicious pastries, home made granola, and above all friendly and welcoming staff. Located in a tiny pedestrian only passage, this is a perfect place for a break from the chaotic Soho they have only few tables inside and few seats facing the alley which makes it cosy and comfy. There are many places for good coffee in the Soho but I wouldn’t skip this one!
