A family friendly sushi place! 4 year old devoured a prawn tempura donburi rice bowl, other half enjoyed his bento box & I had a diet friend ceviche salad & salmon roll! Went for lunch on a Sunday & were seated quickly and served well.

I’m SO excited to find a place in London that offers black rice sushi as well as fresh, delicious and affordable sushi and other goodies like chicken dumplings and spring rolls. My friend told me about the £19.99 all you can eat offer(&9.99 for kids) and fortunately I was working in the Kensington area so I popped in just after 6pm and managed to get a nice table. The food is spread out buffet style and it begins with pan fried chicken dumplings and veggie spring rolls, salad with sesame dressing(served on the side) and then an array of sushi and nigiri. They have all your usual favourites like salmon and avocado, spicy tuna with crunch as well as the amazing and healthy black rice sushi with mango and fresh veggies and one with tofu. I was in heaven! I’m not embarrassed to say I went back 3 times mainly for the delicious chicken dumplings and the salmon and avocado sushi rolls. For dessert, they offer healthy and fresh fruit skewers with strawberries, pineapple, melon. I’ll be back for sure!

Seriously underrated sushi joint in Kensington. I have to say this place is the best for quality and menu variety. I love that for every roll I can have the option of regular, brown, quinoa, or mix of brown/quinoa sushi rice. They have a huge sushi bar & seating area. They hold all you can eat sushi events for £20 in December each year! Don’t miss out!

The sushi is either decent and overpriced, or subpar and overpriced. I think it makes a difference who’s working that day. To err on the safe side, it’s probably better to go with the cooked food or well-mayo’ed rolls instead of sashimi. Bottom line: it’s got a bigger variety of sushi than Pret a Manger, which is the only other sushi place(ha, ha) on the street. So in a pinch, with a hefty price tag, this’ll do.

I love the Food Courts of Whole Foods. I was out with 11 friends and 1 who’s not seafood friendly but I needed an asian fix. Konichiwa Genji! Yes it is a Sushi bar but they had udon and other non raw seafood items as to not offend my non seafood friendly friend. Their Udons were really good. Better than a specialty udon shop in soho! I ordered the Ebi Udon(shrimp). The broth was flavorful without tasting artificial and their noodle had the right chewy texture that one can only achieve with tapioca flour in the dough. And a total bargain for being under 8 pounds! The shrimp was large and tempura batter was right for the soup. They also added in a mixed veggie Tempura which was quite generous as well. They even had a spicy option! SPICY! In London! I’m so in love! I’ll be back and often! =)

«Monster-ly brilliant sushi bar» Genji at Whole Foods Market is a brilliant Japanese sushi bar that also does a small selection of dim sum servings. I came here solo to grab a quick lunch and sampled their special Dragon Roll at £11.99. They described it as a ‘Godzilla’ sort of roll, which is rolled rice with avocado and cucumber, topped with a complete length grilled eel, sliced into 8 pieces and decorated with a drizzle of sweet, thick and yummy ‘Genji-mix’ teriyaki sauce. Presentation was fantastic and and typically simple, and the taste was good. There is also a soft-shell crab roll for £12.00 which I have sampled before and that was tasty too. I also had large mug of fragrant green tea which is free flowing. Service is efficient and friendly. The location sitting at the bar is simply great, you can watch the traffic flow and shoppers below going about their business from the perched position through the huge panoramic windows.
