I went here last summer(2015) with my family while on a trip. We happened to be renting out a flat a few blocks away so when we decided to get dinner somewhere nearby, we landed here. Not only was the atmosphere and regulars of the restaurant extremely friendly and welcoming, the food was extraordinary. There was music playing, people singing, people dancing, and everyone having a great time. Whether you’re renting a flat in the area, staying in a hotel half an hour away, or even live in the area to begin with, I’d recommend this to anyone who wants great food and a nice dining experience.

So good. I felt like I was eating the most authentic Thai food I’ve ever had in my life. Plus, the owner is so sweet!

Walked in with 13 people and Genie immediately accommodated us and did a fabulous meal– would definitely come back for the great food, friendly service, and charming atmosphere!

Egg rolls, creamy vegetable soup, mixed salad, chicken curry, and mussels. Food came out piping hot which I liked because there is nothing more disappointing than some luke warm soup. Mixed salad could have been a little more exciting. It had the standard lettuce, tomato, cucumber, carrot combo. Chicken curry was tasty but the sauce was thin and there could have been more of it. Egg rolls, vegetable soup, and the mussels were good but nothing to be wow’ed by. Service was friendly and they have live piano music on the weekends which was enjoyable.

A definite gastronomical and atmospheric experience. Genie’s at Hollands offers a wide variety of tasty European dishes, mild to spicy, freshly prepared and often served by Genie herself. As a frequent goer, my personal favourite(and top recommendation) is the Duck Confit served with enough Baby New Potatoes to feed half of Notting Hill. As I have often left feeling two stone heavier than when I first arrived, I would highly suggest arriving with an appetite; Genie personally ensures her customers are well fed. The atmosphere at Genie’s is both intimate and cozy, though never giving the feeling of being ‘over crowded’. On Friday and Saturday evenings you can enjoy the smooth sounds of pianist, Ebonard Lysander. Something I have noticed during my visits to Genie’s is the frequency of customers ‘popping in’ to say hello on their way past the restaurant. It seems once you are a regular, there is always a moment to spare for conversation and catchup. That said, the quality and pace of service still remains second to none. What ever the occasion, Genie’s at Hollands is a perfect place for a friday night out, first date or a fiftieth birthday party.

Following on from my last review(saved under ‘Genie’s restaurant’) I can report that the food here has dramatically improved since my last visit. As one of Genie’s regulars I was on the guestlist for their Spring ball which took place last night. Every so often they hold one of these events and invite all their regulars. It is always a riotous night which inevitably ends up with people singing and dancing around the piano and the lovely pianist Ebonard Lysander. And last night was no different. The place was packed and buzzing. Apart from hearing some great numbers from Ebonard, who plays here on Friday and Saturday nights, one of his pupils and a guest also took turns on the mike. So back to the food. I ran into a friend of mine who said how delicious his Thai chicken curry had been and others raved about the spring rolls, made by Genie herself. They have also introduced a delicious new wine to the menu.
