It was wet and wintery outside. After a mad dash in the rain from the Hilton on Edgware road. We got 5 seats. We had 1 waiter for 2 floors. He was busy but we got our order in before the crowd. Proper table cloths and plates with restaurant logo. Cosy and warm restaurant with the waiter in bow tie. We had the nan, pratha and steamed rice. 5 of us ordered chicken tikka massala, meat korma, mixed tandoori £12, butter chicken and samosas for starters. Each main about £9. For 5 without beers was £60 and we paid £5 for gratuity. We were impressed by the waiter who was very efficient serving two floors of the restaurant. We enjoyed the hot cosy atmosphere and hot food on a wintery evening.

Very proper English Indian restaurant. Food is very tasty. Wait staff is very attentive. Wide range of dishes to choose from. We have eaten here many times over the years and is consitantly good. Located a block from Paddington Station.

Entry: Upstairs was pleasant & full. we were shown to a table downstairs which smells of mould. An empty table upstairs could not be used because it was«needed for the wine glasses». First course: Prawns in sauce. Prawns very salty, obviously not cooked in the sauce. Main course: Very greasy. Fairly decent Peshwari Naan but less than average looking(and tasting) Jalfrezi. Toilets: More bad than good Exit & Bill: £43 for 2 people. We shared a starter, had one beer each, two mains. Not good value frankly. Staff were nice people I’m sure but afforded us no particular care. To the management: it’s not broken, but it does need a series of tweaks to get back to the standard we want.

The food here was definitely not worth the money I paid for it. I thought the portions were very small, and the food didn’t live up to the spice level advised on the menu, as well as being fairly bland. Drinks were also quite expensive compared with other houses in the area. The staff however were very pleasant and the place itself looked pretty decent, but I don’t think I’ll be choosing to eat here again.

There are loads of Indian and Pakistani restaurants in London and for the most part, they are all good. What sets this place apart is that the food have been consistently excellent. It also does not hurt that the place is very cosy with friendly(but slow) wait service. The menu has a wide variety covering the basics and the more authentic. My favorite has been the Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi. It is spicy hot yet there are loads of flavors that go with it. With the exception of the slow service, this place is as good as it gets.

Short after lunchtime opening I walked in and the waiters still appeared a bit slow and sleepy, which didn’t change over the next hour, even though they were quite friendly. The papadom was good and with the chutneys they offered red dry ground coconut — an interesting change. Fish bhurta sounded an interesting starter — something like an onion bajii but with fish inside. What came was all oily and greasy so that one could hardly detect the fish.(Maybe, the oil was not yet hot enough!?) The main course was prawn dhansak. Unfortunately the oil(or ghee) seperated from the rest. It did not have the sweet component in it and it was not as hot(spicewise) as it should be. On the other hand it was quite a good portion, with loads of prawns in it. Also, the cooler it got, the less the ghee seperated. So, in spite of the critical commentary, I finally liked it and finished it. With pilau rice and 2 cokes it cost 20.60 Pounds. Maybe, I give it another chance at a different time and with different dishes.

A good Indian restaurant and very handy for Paddington station — only a couple of blocks away. We’ve eaten here lots of times. I like sitting next to the tropical fish in the aquarium set into the wall! The staff are always pleasant. There’s a lot of vegetarian choice too.
