Really good food with an awesome view of River Thames and Southbank river walk. If you like to do some people watching while dining, this is not a bad spot for that.

Working in South Bank doesn’t leave me with many lunch options. Gabriel’s Wharf features a hodge-podge of restaurants, quick eats, fashion boutiques and, for some reason, a bike rental joint. It’s the neighborhood’s saving grace.

Like a proper Londoner, the sun came out and I felt the call to the outside. It was a beautiful day found space on the balcony and overlooked the pier to the water. It was lovely. FOOD: ordered the Frutti and a wine, so I could spend more time sun soaking. Both were quite nice. A bit expensive for quality and thus my 3.5 over 4 grade. SERVICE: Great for London. Really attentive, very helpful and knowledgable and shocking… NICE! LOCATION: 7 Stars! OVERALL: I would do it again. The food that I saw around me looked quite good. I would have loved, knowing that there are markets near by, more fresh fruits on my dessert. Just being picky, but great experience.

Gabriels Wharf is a really special slice of london. As part fo the Coin street development it was one of the last acts of the old GLC and is very unlikely to be replicated in central london anytime soon. Theres some lovely little features here like those carved animals the kids can play on and it makes for a pelasant stroll. Well worth checking out is the OXO tower(also part fo the development) where you can go to the top ad catch some great views.

As with most of the Southbank, I am pretty much in love with this enchanting little enclosure. It’s a wonderful mix of shops and eateries making it the perfect place to stop for lunch a coffee, a poke around the independent gift shops, boutiques, trinkettey type gems and or, all of the above! It’s home to lots of handmade and fairtrade type items without being pretentious and overly arty farty. It has a great vibe and its the kind of place that you would consider meeting friends at for a drink or even an afternoon date… arhh the panoramic view of the Northbank. Drinking in the spectacular view of St Pauls, which just doesn’t get old. This part of London just has so much to offer, there is much to keep you entertained, without a thirst and with hunger. However I must warn you, once you have been here once you like me will be head over heel for this dashing Gabriel W gent!

I think it’s brilliant, me. I’m biased though, I walk through here most days during my lunch hour to get some air! A great collection of restaurants and cafes, unique boutique shops and a great space for sitting outside during the warmer months. And oh yeah, it’s right on the river with fantastic views over London. What a beautiful city we live in eh? Perfect location for meeting friends in Central LDN. You’ll also find London’s only Pieminister shop here — which makes Gabriel’s Wharf akin to a crack dealer– supplying the naughty goods which are likely slowly killing me. But the pies are sooooooo good.

Though the shops are admittedly a little lame(artisan ceramics, jewellery and paintings), as a whole Gabriel’s Wharf is a great place to visit. It is a beautifully executed selection of craft and art shops with the facades of old buildings painted around, making the whole area feel like a film set(which is very fitting seeing as though the London television centre is next door) In the summer, it holds a festival in conjunction with the Coin Street developers(the people who are responsible for the redevelopment of the Oxo Tower and all the community housing around the park) The festival is typically dedicated to children and local cultures and has live music, a children’s carnival procession and an open-air street theatre.

Gabriel’s Wharf is a cute little haven along London’s busy Southbank. It’s a curious little area with a spattering of interesting restaurants and shops. You can walk around the Wharf in 10 minutes. I’d say the shops are ever so slightly disappointing. Well, to me, that is. They are not really my thing, a strange mix of fashion boutiques and gift shops but nothing that’s really outstanding. There are cool little cafes and food cars, it’s nice to sit in here and relax away from the buzzy vibes of the main part of the Southbank. I love the Southbank and this is just another little facet to this awesome place. It’s ever so slightly underwhelming considering the rest of the area is so alive and cool but, still, worth a look…

Tucked like a baby in a cradle into the flank of the Southbank riverbank, Gabriel’s Wharf is the place where angels gather to have meals and get the latest fashion accessory for their feathery wings. I hear, if you go on a Saturday, Gabriel blows his horn to the tune of «All that Jazz» from the musical Chicago. Fortunately, you don’t have to be an angel to go here. Shops full of funky, artistic goods line this cute and cozy inlet. A small gallery sits across from a shops where a woman sews fabric into crafty creations. A bohemian store selling products from, say Nepal and Thailand is just across the street from a funky bar and restaurant with a great patio. The wharf has got an independent vibe and good flavor — think cinnamon, cardamom, clove and orange peel mmmm. In the center are pieces of organic wood, driftwood perhaps arranged into comfortable seats. So take a hiatus from the West end chain shops and come down here for some local goodness.

Oasis of the South Bank The Wharf is a great find. Unless you’ve stumbled upon it you probably wouldn’t know it existed. Come in the summertime and sit at one of the outdoor pubs. A pint has never tasted as good as it does in the sunshine of Gabriels Wharf. If the weather isn’t going to plan, then skip the pint and head for the Creperie at the back. Warm up with a crêpe and a hot pot of tea.
