A not-bad-burrito. Decent fillings, good size and a quirky little place — not so much interested in bringing you the funky, ubiquitous décor of their bigger chain competitors. But, I wasn’t blown away. Only a few days later I had a much better burrito from the guys in the green van on Whitecross St for a fair few pounds less. I’ll go again, as it’s so convenient to the office, but I wouldn’t recommend you make the trek.

I really enjoyed this place. Went for a late lunch so it wasn’t busy and ordered the beef burrito. It wasn’t as rich as other chains(Chipotle, Wahaca) and that’s a welcome trait to me. The portion size is generous but again not as large as other chains, and again, that’s quite alright at lunch time! The staff didn’t go out of their way to make me feel welcome but that’s probably because they’d just finished their lunch time rush.

Great food but pricey — wrap it up is much cheaper.

All I ask is that you please take note to the dates of the other reviews. It’s no wonder they had good reviews. They used to be good. Not so much anymore. This place was a little bit of a hike for me to go for lunch, so I was sorely disappointed when I finally made it back to my office to eat a mediocre burrito. My co-worker had the vegetarian burrito and I had the chicken. I was told the vegetarian burrito was just a little weird and not at all tasty. As for my burrito, it was bland. I think I should just stick to my burrito truck in White Cross from now on.

Had the veggie Mole Burrito. Really good. The mix of flavours(sweet, chilli and spicy) was perfection. Extra guacamole essential. Cautiously opted for the hot sauce and glad I did. Really well judged mixed of ingredients and fully padded. Ate it like a beast. Staff very friendly. Love the small but funky dining space. Takes cards.

I came here looking for a South African and Ukrainian take on a Californian interpretation of Mexican food… and I guess that’s what I found. The burrito was very big, kind of overfilled, and showed the tell-tale sign on wrapping that it was going to suffer catastrophic burrito containment failure, which it did. On to the actual burrito though. The meat was rather tasty, and the black beans tasted kind of sweet, almost like they’d put chocolate in it. Definitely had a hint of mole flavour to it, which I kind of liked. The service was very friendly, but the salsa music playing in the background(which was the foreground, because I was the only customer) was a bit annoying. Give it a try — it’s different — but it’s not somewhere I’d take a friend to if I was trying to sell burritos as a concept.

They make a decent burrito. I don’t rate them as highly as Chilango on Fleet Street, but I’d say they’re equal to Benito’s Hat on Goodge Street. Don’t expect a restaurant — I think they have just a few chairs — much better for takeaway. Also, they do breakfast burritos — I made the mistake of showing up at around 10:30 one morning, hoping to get a regular burrito.

My gosh, the burrito was HUGE. It was bigger than a baby’s head. I didn’t think I could finish it, but it was so tasty, and the salsa just the right side of spicy that I devoured the whole thing. The burrito wrap was quite tough too — not in the hard to chew sense, but in the sense that not only did it survive the 45 minute commute without becoming soggy, it also didn’t fall apart the moment I bit into it, which is a problem I’ve had with virtually every kind of wrap I’ve eaten. Given the size and the taste, I’d say this is among the better value-for-money burritos you’ll get in London. It’s a pity this place is only open from 7.30 am to 2.30 pm on weekdays. I’m hardly ever in this part of town during those times!

I tried this place for lunch today, and it didn’t disappoint! Finally, after 10 years in London we’re getting some decent, even good, Mexican food. The braised pork(«Pork Tatemado») was excellent, and the guacamole passed my foolproof test of authenticity.(If a place makes good guacamole, it’s probably also going to do other aspects well.) My only gripe, and hence no 5th star, is that they use basmati rice, which strikes me as sort of strange. I love it in Indian food, but in Mexican food it seems a bit round and puffy, even creamy. But it’s a minor gripe, and I *will* be back for lunch to try the other meats, and also their quesadillas looked intriguing.

While wandering around Spitalfields today, I recalled someone telling me the area had some decent burritos, so I decided to give Flying Burrito a shot. I hunted for the restaurant in the pouring rain and only briefly considered stopping elsewhere in an attempt to stay dry. I shook myself off while stepping over the astroturf at the front door and ordered a beef barbacoa burrito(with guac, no rice). I almost asked for nachos as well, but held back after seeing how big my meal was getting. I grabbed some Cholula and sat at one of the three two person tables, opened the tinfoil and watched the sun pierce the clouds as the rain stopped. Act of God? Maybe. I devoured my meal, realizing I was already full after eating only half, but I couldn’t stop. I was possessed by the tasty food, Mexican music, and the friendliness of the woman behind the counter. I finished the burrito with a pain in my gut that is usually only felt during glutinous holidays. I had od’ed on Mexican goodness and I didn’t care. I crumpled the empty foil, returned my plastic tray and turned to see the rain had returned.

I am a Californian living in London, and this is my favourite Burrito place in the Square Mile. The burritos are generously big(with lots of options for fillings) and the taste is nearly as authentic as something as I would buy back in California(Oh, how I miss you, Baja Fresh). They also have a small marquis in the«food market» that has sprung up on Ghoulston street near Petticoat Lane market that serves small burritos, tacos and chili con carne.

Interesting new little place round the back of Aldgate and near the street market. Had a quesadilla which was pleasant, fresh and tasty enough but a bit low on the meat filling(beef) for £5. Nice range of salsas on offer. Two types of stewed beans — black or pinto and I had the black beans which were very nice. They also offer coriander-lime rice. Well worth a visit for something different and not stodgy.

Absolutely delicious, massive burritos. Seemed a bit pricy, but for the quantity I felt it was more than worth while. I particularly enjoyed the salsa; the addition of pineapple was an interesting and welcome surprise. I have yet to try the spicier options but I can’t wait. Will definitely be back. The staff were friendly and efficient and the seating area was clean and welcoming.

So they have been open a couple of months now, enough time for a few of the creases to be ironed out and time for another Unilocal methinks. They are running a coffee promotion this week, which basically gets you a free coffee every day if you are on their VIB list, which is broadly speaking anyone that gave their e-mail address when they first opened, or a much discounted coffee, if you just give your e-mail address now. Now I’m a coffee fan, so I wouldn’t necessarily go into a Starbucks if they were giving away free coffee and stock options. But as this place is new I need to give it a go. Monday’s latte was flavoursome but luke warm, which is great for flavour but not for getting it back to my desk to sup while catching up with the e-mail. Tuesday’s cappucino, was warmer but still a little on the cool side, Today’s was served at 57C/135 °F, which I know because the lovely girl that runs the place made mine with the thermometer in the cup. It was perfect. Exactly the right temperature to start drinking straight away, all the flavour still there yet hot enough to get it back to the office, or it would have been but it was so good there was none left within a minute or so. This is a very mellow mild roast cofee, wonderful! I need to have another one tomorrow to see if it has ousted Carluccios from the number one spot in my personal best cappucino around Bishopsgate list. I was also in here yesterday in need of a lunch time burrito fix. Let me start off by saying that this burrito was HUGE, huge with a capital HUE, huge like Texas, dauntingly can I possibly eat all that huge. I did and it was very good indeed. They are made in front of you and you can have any ingredients you want. Mine was beef, rice, black beans, salady stuff, cheese, sour cream, guacamole and a lot of tomatillo salsa picante. So in summary, come here and eat one, your tummy will love you, your waistline probably won’t.
