If you want good pub grub the Five Bells is the place to go. I went with a friend on Sunday and we really enjoyed the food. I went for fish and chips and my friend went for the trusted steak and baked potato. The fish was nicely cooked and the chips were hot. The steak was medium rare and very tasty. We went for choux buns and cream for desert. It’s not expensive this pub and it’s well worth the visit. Just remember it’s pub food but high quality.

It was time for a meal of epic proportion as I headed to my local. A few years ago it became part of a chain called Flaming Grill pubs, which offer an American-style cuisine in very British surroundings. The Flaming Grill pubs offer a variety of food challengers and I went with their most fearsome; The Trash-Can Challenge. A Giant rack of ribs, double up cheese & bacon burger, beef chilli sundae, chicken skewer, onion rings, corn on the cob, smokey BBQ baked beans, peas and a triple portion of chips all served on a shiny trash can lid! The battle was gruelling and several adjustments of my belt and jeans were required but in the end I emerged victorious with my name forever etched in history of the Flaming Grill Hall of Flame. A landmark occasion to tell the future kids about proudly! The food was delicious and the pub is one of nicest in North London, especially their beer garden in the summer, given it’s leafy location. Stay tuned, as for my next visit I will be conquering the 32oz Steak Challenge!

Cheap and cheerful, and exactly what you would expect from a family friendly local pub. Excellent roasts, good sized portions. A good range or real ales on tap. A somewhat rowdy, cheerful, friendly atmosphere.

I’ve been going to the Thursday night pub quiz here on an irregular basis for several years. The quiz itself is very good and the food and beer are fine. I probably wouldn’t go there for general drinking even if I lived close by(there’s nothing wrong with the beer, but the choice is limited and the atmosphere is too«restauranty»), though I might go for the food if I couldn’t be bothered to cook(standard pub food, usual rates and quality).

There is nothing close by to this pub so I guess if you live in the area it would be ok. The inside of the pub is very average but out front there is a nice outdoor space with picnic tables.

This is the only pub in the area so it can get pretty busy especially on those rather infrequent sunny London days. Yes the Five Bells gets very busy in the Summer. Five Bells has a really nice beer garden and is worth venturing out just to enjoy its surroundings. Smoking as usual spoils this beer garden as with most pubs. The interior is abit old fashioned with flowery curtains and ugly décor. This is a large pub inside but really has nothing outstanding and no character. Go for the beer garden not the pub. Food is average and traditional pub stuff again nothing unusual or interesting. I have not eaten here but it looks much like an average pub food. Nice surroundings but boring inside.
