I guess one shouldn’t expect much from a fast-food spot located across from a TGI Friday’s(the second TGI Friday’s in the neighborhood, in fact), but this was disappointing even on that level. Passable fish and chips, but they charged us when we asked for more than one packet of ketchup and tartar sauce. To misquote the opening lines of Annie Hall, «at least the portions were big.»

Some of the worst food I have ever had. Overpriced and not cooked to order. Just because you are in a tourist area doesn’t mean you should serve people awful food. Places like this are why people don’t respect British food. There are plenty of places in this city who do wonderful fish & chips but this place should be closed immediately. Shame.

I can’t say that I’ll ever be coming back to this place. On my last trip to London, I passed by a few times. It is really conveniently located in the middle of all the action, and it looks inviting. I stopped in with two others and ordered the large portion fish and chips. When it came out, it was huge and looked great. Once we started eating, though, we all agreed that it was the worst fish-n-chips of the trip. It was a soggy, oily, mess with a weird taste. I have to say the chips were good, though. This wasn’t the worst part. When we got our check, it was more than I was expecting. I can deal with paying a considerable amount more since I wasn’t taking it away. That was spelled out on the menu. What I had a problem with was the service charge that was added on. Hello? Wasn’t the increased price the service charge? I asked our server about it, and she was no longer pleasant. I told her that I wanted it taken off. Shortly after that, all the cooks behind the counter started yelling SERVICECHARGE. We paid our bill and left.

I suppose this is the basic fish and chip experience. It was fine, nothing special. It has very limited seating, and there is a significant up charge for eating inside. You can order at the counter and eat at the café tables outside. Or you can walk a few feet down to Leicester Square and eat there. The small portion is more than enough for most humans. It is big enough to share for many people.(Get one and see if you need more.) They have signs that say they choose their fish and it’s somewhat local. I can’t imagine that makes any difference if it goes into a deep frier after being breaded. But nice that they care. Here is the thing: your in London, you want to have what Kevin Klein called«the English contribution to world cuisine: the chip»(in A Fish Called Wanda). Fish goes hand in hand with chips and this place is as good as any.

A convenient fast food option in the heart of Leicester Square. I had the regular sized cod and chips for takeaway for a quick pre-theater bite. First, it was a sizable portion — two large pieces of fish piled on high with chips. Fish had a nice crispy skin and had piping hot interior, but was a bit under seasoned. A similar story for the chips. Both needed to be doused with ketchup for added taste. Probably far from being the best fish and chips in London, but they do have the benefits of quick service, location, and relatively low price. Note their takeaway menu is cheaper than the dine-in menu — in fact they discourage take-away customers dining in their outdoor seats.

Portions are good but the fish is bland. Basically paying for location more than anything else.

Melt in the mouth! I haven’t had fish and chips in a long time because I’m not really big on fish, but I have to say I really enjoyed this and I wasn’t expecting to. I came here for takeaway and the counter service was friendly and helped me choose. I took the fish and chips away and when I got to where I was going it was still warm because they wrapped it well, and it still melted in my mouth and was yummy. The portion size is also ridiculously generous and one order is so big it can feed two people and includes a mountain of fries. I like that you can put vinegar on your fish and chips too and the location right next to Leicester Square is ridiculously convenient. I am definitely coming back!

We came for a late night dinner after watching a movie at Odeon. It was open till 2am which was nice. I was a little dissapointed that the food sitting under the heat lamp was the meal I got but was suprised as it was still pretty good. We got the steak pie and the cod and chips. The top of the pie was so hard that I couldn’t break into it but after biting into the top, the rest was warm and soft. The fish they serve are huge pieces of fish which seemed like fresh caught. Overall, I think if the food was fresh I would have rated it a 5. But considering the food was still good after sitting under the heat lamp for who knows how long, I was pretty impressed

Hey, as long as you know what you’re getting this is a good place to go. Is it the best fish and chips ever? Maybe not. But still they do give you giant pieces of cod and the chips aren’t that bad. I went here a couple times while I was doing business in the area because its fast. I suggest that you just walk up to the counter and order. Service at the counter sucks but who cares, its takeaway. I highly suggest if you are tired of cod to get the fish cakes. They are huge and really fill you up because they have a little bit of potato in them. Really nice texture. Similar to crab cakes but without the obvious crab.

When in London I guess try the fish and chips at least once. So being in Leicester Square this is the first place we see to try it and it wasn’t bad. The portion was good, tasted fresh and cooked perfect. I could have given this place 4 stars but we also tried the chicken and chips and I found it a little bland, good thing it came with gravy to give it a little flavor. Im not much of a fish person(except if its sushi) so I would say good enough.

As to be expected in a touristy area. The food actually looked pretty good but the batter became soggy quite quickly. Service was fine but not particularly attentive.

Wonder if no one reviewed this place because they are ashamed to admit they ate here. Can here after late night pub hopping. The food is decent for being in a tourist trap area… certainly better than the pizza places nearby. Probably closer to a 3.5 star but I’m being generous because other food places were closed when this one was still open. Ordered the large fish and chips and a Stella. Really hit the spot after a few Guinness and ciders and a musical in soho.
