Chicken and falafel crammed into a pitta, surrounded by crisp, fresh salad and coated with a liberal oozing of tahini and a lemon dressing. If that makes you salivate just reading it, get yourself down there, because I promise you it tastes even better than you imagine I’d ordered my pita and was asked ‘would you like a drink with that?’. I declined as I was pulling a suitcase and didn’t have any spare hands. The lady serving me, then gave me a complimentary crunchy pickled chilli thing to try while I waited and I thought, ‘oh, how nice’. It was pretty salty, and when the server smiled and asked again if I wanted to purchase a drink, I conceded and picked up a Limonata, knowing deep down, that it was one of the best bits of up-selling I’ve ever seen. Bravo falafel lady. You win this round, but I’ll be wise to your tricks next time… ;) Checking in gets you 10% off your first order, which is always nice!

The falafel is good. That been said, the best thing about the Falafelisious is the salad bar. My O’ my, amazing salads just like a good ol’falafel stand in Israel! The price is not too bad considering the location and the size of the dish you get, especially if you are well versed in the art of shoving loads into the pita without it being torn like I am. I always take the chicken in pita which is well made thin slices of schnitzel chopped that creates a wonderful harmony with the salads and chilly. There are always pretty girls around the box park and I don’t care how messy it looks when I’m eating it. It’s just me and my pita.

Popped in here for a quick snack of deep fried the other night, and while it’s not my favourite falafel ever I enjoyed the atmosphere and my packed pita. Most of the fillings are vegan, but beware if you eschew animal stuff as they initially told me the coleslaw was vegan because it only had mayonnaise. A plus is it’s a falafel joint that serves beer!

Are you looking for a traditional Lebanese/Middle Eastern restaurant, with lantern, round tables and this sort of stuff? Well don’t come here! This is more like a food truck with 2 tables in front of it. AND that’s what you want. You want to grab a quick meal and then go back on the road, looking at this wonderful city and everything it has to offer. And if you are like me, you don’t only want a quick meal, you want a TERRIFIC one! That’s why you have to come here! Don’t expect to have a wide choice, Falafel or Schnitzel(but you WANT to go for the falafel, trust me!), in black or white pita. That’s it! A falafel, a pita and then head to the ingredients on the table: you can choose whatever you want as long as it fit in your sandwich, fill it as you like! I kind of love this build-your-own-falafel style! The main ingredient is simply delicious: crispy and not greasy on the outside, soft and hot inside, just as we like it! And of course it’s cooked just in front of your eyes, you are sure not to get anything just microwaved! Everything else… Well I didn’t taste every single item(I think there are more than 20 ingredients you can choose!) but all of them are great: try the green hot sauce, delicious! Is it the best falafel in eastern london? well I don’t know, I’ll try all of them and then I’ll decide, but that thing is damn good! try it!

Trudging home from a long day at the office, with more work to do at home, and with my stomach grumbling away, I decided cooking was not an option tonight. Takeaway here I come. This was my first visit and OMG this is the best falafel I’ve had outside of the Middle East or Mamoun’s in NYC( – and I’ve been eating there for a very long time) The falafel quality itself is outstanding, crisp on the outside, soft and full of flavour on the inside. The box meal with salad, falafel & pita bread is outstanding value for money. For around £6.50, you get all of the above, and the salad means not only some leaves and onions, but a wide range of mixed salads and ingredients to include such as babaganoush(pureed eggplant), green chili, white cabbage, beetroot, couscous, lentils, olives, pasta, and you get to stuff it all into the the box yourself. I probably could have just done with the falafel & salad in a pitta(£4.50 I think)…as I write I am struggling to fit the rest of the huge meal in my tummy. To top off the experience, the service was really friendly and cheery. If only I could finish all this food…
