These guys do the best lamb wraps I’ve ever had. If you’ve got a spare £5 on you and looking for something filling and made from quality ingredients then look no further.

Finally I’m back to eating normal food after being a Vegan for 7 weeks until Pascha last Sunday. When we entered just after they had opened at lunch time on Sunday, the tables were dirty — food bits, grease marks, mayo smudges, etc. We ordered large Lamb Shish and they were grilled to perfection, but the meat was over salted and majority were sinewy. Salad was small and the pitta bread was burnt in places. Other diners near us ordered chips which were frozen variety and overcooked. Would we go back? Not sure.

This is everything a kebab shop should be. Do your self a favour and stop by — you won’t regret it. This place is not fancy by any means but it is great food at a great value. The staff is incredibly warm and friendly — I was greeted a soon as I walked in the door. They have a few mismatched tables so I chose to dine in and there’s no extra charge. The portions are more then generous and the food was top notch.

Fantastic service and attentive staff behind the counter. The prices are super reasonable and the food is excellent. Try the chicken and lamb — its to die for.

Easy enough to rate this one. Friendly, efficient staff, clean interior, fantastic food, reasonable prices. Doesn’t hurt that it’s directly across the street from my flat. Still, I pick up takeaway here 2 – 3 times a week, and it’s fantastic every time. Go.

Eat a kebab sober… you wouldn’t normally do this unless you were in a proper Turkish restaurant, but this place does the business. They’ve expanded from their original single shop and have taken over the store next door, breaking through the wall to create a seating area. In terms of what I’ve eaten there, it’s always been about the doner wrap, that spit roasted meat that you always see in kebab shop windows. The difference here is that they make theirs out of marinated strips of meat, not the minced ‘stuff’ that you see in normal takeaways. What you get is a hefty wrap that’s stuffed with meat, salad, chili sauce and garlic sauce. Take a bunch of tissues, unwrap and eat. The tissues come in handy at the end as the juices from the meat and the sauces will collect at the bottom making those last few bites a little wet(but totally tasty). Go for it, you will love it, it’s honestly food for before the night starts, during the night on your way to the next bar, or at the end of the evening.

So, I’m one of the many that’s delved into this kebab place thanks to Giles Coren’s article. Took my wife and kids there last week. She’s French and very particular about her food. Her recommendation — ‘it’s like the kebab’s I remember from my childhood’. You can interpret that to be very good indeed. Worth trekking across town for — it’s close to the northern line, and thameslink. Overgrounds not too far either. Edit– in recent visits they’ve opened up more of a space to sit down, but the food appears to have lost in the process. Not quite as good kebabs anymore

The obvious choice for a snack, post life-affirming, nourishment-for-the-soul yoga class, is a kebab. Obviously. So my friend and I, both big fast-food aficionados since our university days, set off for E. Mono. I had previously read the glowing reviews on here and elsewhere and was expecting great things. Now, I’m not sure if it was the yoga turning my head, or the fact that I’ve just got back from Istanbul where I gorged myself on delicious kebab-y treats of a far higher calibre, but this really didn’t live up to the billing. My lamb wasn’t really that tender, and the whole thing was just a bit too dry and dare I say it tasteless. Not enough sauce perhaps? I’m just not sure. Put it this way though, I won’t be rushing back.

This place does it right: They focus on a small amount of meats, and you eat them in wraps. That’s it. And guess wut playa? They do it right. 3.99 for a kick ass wrap with a great blend of cabbage, chili, etc… it’s just great. I have absolutely no complaints about the food served, just wish dining in was a little less like takeaway, but that’s not the focus of the place. I love this place.

I feel a little pressured to give this place 5 stars, given that all of the previous Unilocalers have also rated this place so highly… alright, lemme succumb — it’s worth five stars! I actually heard about this place, because of Samir S, a fellow Unilocaler. Samir sent me a compliment the other day, in which he urged me to try E Mono. Having followed his reviews for quite a while, I knew that I was onto something and in less than 24 hours I was at E Mono ordering a Turkish burrito or döner wrap… with me were three police officers from the nearby police station — all of whom seem to be regulars here. This is what I like about this place: — I received the warmest welcome. I don’t think I’ve ever walked into a kebab/döner shop where someone greeted me with a smile! Amazing experience… — I love the simplicity of the menu: chicken, lamb, köfte, or shawarma in a wrap or in pita wrap. That’s it — no endless studying of the menu. — The taste of the food… I ordered the chicken wrap and it was delightful. Juicy and tender meat, with fresh salads. — It’s clean and the design of the store is very simple. Really — just a wonderful experience and recommendation!

That was AM-A-ZING, I’m in a £3.99 Lamb Doner food coma. Why haven’t I found you before, with your fresh spiced juicy lamb doner kebabs, your free range chicken, your rocket infused salads, your chilli sauce, your minimalist menu, your copper panelling and your wonderful custom printed packaging. I need to have more E Mono food comas… other kebab food comas mean nothing now and open 11am to 11.30pm there are few excuses for my heart to wander.(love)

Value for money, delicious juicy fatty tender meat and all in a flatbread wrap with fresh salad and a gorgeous garlic yogurt sauce(and of course chilli for those who like it too!). God this kebab is good. £3.99 for any of the kebabs on the menu– shwarma, shish, chicken kofte– you name it. I like a place with a simple menu because it often means what they do cook, they do well! This place definitely lives us to that! I discovered it only last weekend and have now been back twice! A testiment to how good it is. And as the reviewer below mentions it’s Giles Coran’s local and he loves it! That can only be a good thing! Long live E Mono– we need more like you in Kentish Town!

The kind of kebabs I’ve been waiting for. I don’t want to speak on behalf of all of London here, but I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest that they’re also the kind of kebabs MOST of London has been waiting for… Because they’re really, really good. I’m definitely not an authority on kebabs. At all. I’ve eaten shish kebabs before, and kofte kebabs but that E. Mono doner I just ate was only the second I’ve had, in my life. Ever. It was also the best. Perfectly spicy, dripping with yummy juices, with delicious tender and flavoursome FREE-RANGE chicken(I KNOW!) and super fresh vegetables,(I think I spotted some rocket! Rocket! In a kebab! What on earth is going on!), all neatly wrapped in a flat-bread. Plus, according to my boy(who picked them up) the guys in there are really friendly and lovely. And the shop front and endearing(and quite frankly, cool) preservation of the original sign, frontage and name, has made lot’s of people very, very happy(including Giles Corren, who is also a huge fan of the food). It was a kebab. That was nothing like any kebab I’ve ever had in England. In the best way possible. From a kebab shop with the best sign ever. Oh yeah? And they’re huge and cheap, you can get a chicken doner, lamb doner, lamb kofte, chicken shish or lamb shish, for £3.99. I just five starred a kebab shop…
