I came here after having simply walked into it one day with my friend to have a quick look at what they had to offer and being asked to come back by the owner. He told my friend holding a coffee from Café Nero that his stuff was better and cheaper. So I came back with my sister. We ordered a latté and a hot chocolate with one basboosa and an apricot and custard pie. Where do I start? Well, it looked like a hot chocolate! The coco sprinkled on the foam tasted great! Alas, there was none of it in the actual drink! It tasted like a micchiato, which I hate. The basboosa was average. The pie tasted store bought and stale. However, it was all edible and not off putting. The plus side is that this place is really cheap. Cost us £7.00 altogether. Not too bad! The place offers a range of cakes, pies, middle-eastern deserts. I even saw croissants and borek as well as other savoury pastries. I might just go again. I’ll just try and stick to the products that look like they were made by them instead of the cakes and pies which look like they were store bought.

It pays off to walk down busy roads from time to time. I am sure I would have missed this new addition to the Shepherds Bush Green end of the Uxbridge Road had I not decided to walk today. I fancied a snack, but not from one of the many chains that dominate this stretch of road. I am really glad I perservered! I was drawn in by a generous display of pastries and cakes in the window, fresh oranges and coffee maker visible behind the counter Dough & So is a proper bakery, with cakes and breads made on the premises love it! And I hadn’t even noticed the massive cakes on display when I first walked in. They are so beautiful and oversized I mistook them for pieces of art! They match the décor which is also not apparent until you have sat down and started to look around. Beautiful lamps made from gourds and coloured glass hang from the ceiling transporting me to a much nicer place than a rainy day in Shepherds Bush. As it turns out, the owner is from Turkey, but his cakes are very individual with influences from around the world. Apparently, they only opened a week ago, and I look forward to coming back to sample some cake soon.
