Good value, tasty chicken tikka masala, delivery available via or I’m pretty picky when I get Indian food(as I’ve said before, when you’ve had it since a baby, you do have high standards) but when I get the craving but am just too lazy to make it myself, I’ll see what the net spits out as options. Desi Spice came highly recommended on Just-Eat(tried Unilocal but to my surprise no reviews!). I ordered a chicken tikka masala(old stand by favourite… kinda the«pad thai test» for Indian joints in the UK), a lamb Xacuti curry(Xacuti is a Goan curry characterised by a thin curry with onions and based on either tomatoes or coconut), garlic naan, and some seekh kebab. The seekh kebab was tender and spicy, absolutely delicious as an appetiser and sadly not enough in portion size which is probably for the best as I would have eaten until full. Not to say I wasn’t stuffed by the end of the meal as the chicken tikka masala was rich and creamy with just enough sweetness to make it decadent while avoiding the trap of being overpowering which I find most places fall into. I would have preferred smaller more bite size chunks of chicken but that would have exacerbated the problem of just slightly overcooked meat that cast a bit of a shadow on the dish. The Xacuti masala was spicy as it should be and a great complement to the richness of the tikka masala. I was a bit disappointed as the toughness of the lamb and crunchiness of the onions indicated a dish that was flash cooked as opposed to simmered slowly for several hours in the traditional style but for a delivery one can’t expect such time to go into it. The garlic naan was flavourful and spotted with garlic pieces and parsley to add both a visual and taste element that was quite pleasing. The naans were also huge and although I ordered two, it was all I could to do to finish one. Apologies for no pictures as I was so famished by the time the food arrived I devoured it before remembering to drag out a camera! Overall, I’ll keep this in mind for a quick Indian fix as it’s better quality than what Brick Lane has to offer and is very good value for the food as my total meal came to £22 including delivery.
