I’ve just been for a drop in appointment here as when I called by on the off chance that there may be availability they’d had a cancellation. Obviously I was ecstatic that I could be seen straight away, but all I can say is that I’m absolutely astounded at the mediocre experience I had. I was ushered downstairs and had my hair washed by a boy who couldn’t have been more disinterested. He washed once and I had conditioner on for about a second before he rinsed and then off I went to my chair. There wasn’t even a hint of a head massage! My stylist, Becki, was nice enough, but all I had was a trim and a quick style at the end with loose curls put in using a pair of straighteners. I’d asked for volume, but she said she’d be unable to create any without using rollers at my crown whilst blow drying, so obviously I was expecting rollers at my crown when it came to blow drying(which was after about 10 minutes of cutting) but she must have been sticking with her ‘it’s not possible’ as in the end she dried it absolutely flat. What made it worse was that the woman next to me was having masses of volume curated in hers with yes, you guessed it, rollers put in for her blowdry! It was one of the quickest haircuts of my life, yet one of the most expensive at £119.25. I was quoted £116 so God only knows what the extra £3.25 was for… because I used the cloakroom? Because I had a tea? It wasn’t a ‘bad’ experience, my hair looks fine, but it absolutely wasn’t what I was expecting from their glamorous interior and website that raves they’re the, ‘…best styling salon in London.‘ Wow, what a disappointment. I would never go back and if you’re considering going and don’t have a trust fund to live off I’d really recommend that you pose yourself the question, «Do I actually need a Daniel Galvin endorsed haircut?» The answer from me is a definite NO.

Nearly four years later, and I’m still going to Frankie, and she’s still fantastic. Of course, she’s a big grown-up stylist now, so she’s pretty expensive for new clients(£125 for a cut and blowdry). Thank jesus for being grandfathered in!

I always wonder when I walk into a very chic spacious interiors, obscenely expensive place buzzing with countless clients in the early morning ‘how on earth are all these people not working?’ I was made redundant and wasting what I got on treating myself — that’s my case — but how about all those people I found at Daniel Galvin yesterday morning ? and that’s apply on this salon in particular, every expensive outlet is packed with customers! I really need to study this phenomenon didn’t the media talk about inflation and cut backs ? now to the review of this place– I like the interiors a lot like the space, the white, the reception, how people look there every thing is at an excellent luxurious standards I wasn’t offered or asked if I like anything to drink– but there was a box of tissues in front of every chair(very important after a hair wash) I had a hair cut that cost me £125 !!! crazy I know — but I am not alone– all those people around me are doing just the same hairdresser who gave me a trim was very nice Spanish and new to the salon(probably that’s why he was friendly) — do I think I had an exceptional trim? NO is it worth the money? NO am I going back again? at these prices NEVER

I have only ever had my nails done here, so I can’t speak for the hairdressing but… Wow what a salon! Its huge and it even has a bar and you can hold a meeting and/or get your lunch here too(honest!). I went here to try Minx nails — you may have read about them in the paper they are those silver/gold nails that really look like liquid metal(if I can work out how to upload/attach a photo for you guys I will, you have to see them to believe it). There are a sort of posh sticker which meant the whole manicure took around 15 mins and no waiting for polish to dry! The nail technitian was lovely, she helped me choose a colour and gave me loads of tips for aftercare. She was a perfectionist too and made sure my nails looked 100% perfect before finishing(no slap it on and rush you out) I felt relaxed like I could have stayed there all afternoon(was tempted!!!) The Minx look is amazing, I had them done for a party and people couldn’t stop commenting on them but they did cost £35. I know that is not a huge amount for a mani but they did start to peel away at the ends after about 3 days and then it looked scruffy so I peeled them off. However was so impressed by the salon, would def go back here for more nail treatments and to try out the hairdressing(they do some beauty treatments too). I booked online which is always a handy feature and I got confirmation within about an hour. Best of all you are only 5 mins away from Oxford Street shops so you can throw in some retail therapy before/after your treatments. I suspect this place is on the pricey side for most people but if you can afford it def try this place you will love it :-).

I have only ever had one bad experience at Daniel Galvin, and that was because I got a parking ticket while I was having my hair done. Other than that, it’s delightful. The interior is so chic and glamorous, the staff are all very friendly(I’d recommend Alan the hairdresser — he’s lovely), and getting your haircut feels like a real experience. It’s not cheap, of course, but it’s worth every penny.
