Curators Coffee

I’ve had lattes from Curators Coffee probably about 20 times when I’ve visited London. I’ve lad lattes from Monmouth Coffee, Taylor St Baristas, and several others, but prefer Curators Coffee. The baristas as Curators Coffee are friendly, and the espresso beans they use are probably the best I’ve ever tried.

There are a lot of good indecent coffee shops in London (my morning path had me sampling Ozone and Association and Brick Lane and Nude) but when I sipped my cortado here I let out an involuntary «wow!» Not much room for sitting, no wifi, but utterly worth it for the coffee.

Great little place for coffee, cakes and sandwiches. The coffee is top notch and surprisingly inexpensive for the overall quality and atmosphere of the place. Pastries and sandwiches, such as I’ve tasted, are very good as well. The staff are friendly, and it’s not a bad place to have a sit for a while, particularly when the weather is nice.

Best little coffee shop in the City of London — tucked away near St Mary Axe and Leadenhall Market. These antipodean baristas make some superb coffee and have some very tempting treats as well!

Very pleasant café — you can indulge your inner coffee snob to your heart’s content, or go simple (but nonetheless very good). The seats outside are usually very busy if the weather is the least bit clement, but are unappealingly windswept at this time of year (November) in stark contrast to the warm and welcoming (albeit bijou) interior.

As I walked through the streets to get here I was a little dubious that it would actually materialize amongst the corporate streets. Lo, and behold! The sea of suits parted and I set my eyes upon this glorious tiny space.
There’s cool music, funny chalk drawings, awesome art work from one of the staff, a tempting cake display and super friendly staff.
But the best bit? Bangin’ coffee made with Square Mile or Nude beans. Well made and up there with one of the best I had during my stay in London, I was suddenly jealous of all the suits trotting about outside.
Don’t miss he cascara iced «coffee» with lime — one of the best examples I’ve had of this beverages and easy to drink on a hot day.

Curators café is a small café on a back street in the city devoted to serving great coffee. They serve coffee from a variety of roasters but usually either Union Hand Roasted, Square Mile or Nude. They also have tea from Lalani and a variety of cold beverages. On the food side there are some nice sandwiches (also some hot) as well as many tasty pastries. Being a bit of a coffee geek I must say that the coffee cannot really compete with the best in London but this is still great coffee compared to the ‘regular’ cafes. I have had their filter coffee and it is acceptable but I am a bit disappointed they do not brew on order so I only have it when it has been freshly brewed. The espresso based beverages are however what I usually go for as they are consistently good.
If it is nice weather the outdoor seating (think 4 tables or so that each can seat 4) is nice but otherwise it is more a place to grab a cup to go as there are only 5 or 6 chairs inside. Service is always friendly and they do know their coffee so if in the area do pop in.

This is a lovely café which provides a welcome contrast to the somewhat stark and corporate environment in which it resides and indeed with many of the other cafes with which it competes. The house coffee comes from Union and the tea from Lalani. Guest options are also available. All result in pleasingly fresh beverages which are just the thing to break up a busy day. Indeed, the Macchiato I enjoyed on Monday was one of the best that I have had in London. All of this is complimented by truly charming staff.
