I’ll be forever thankful to the friend who recommended the Crescent to me. While I booked too late to get a room on the ‘first floor’(the second floor to North Americans), I was very comfortable in my third floor room, which had a lovely view of the tiny green space in front of the hotel.(But this is not the hotel for people with huge suitcases. I’m not certain how they could be brought up the very narrow flight of stairs to the third floor.) My single room was exactly as promised: small, clean, and bright, with a desk, kettle(no coffee maker), TV, sink, mirror, and a strong WiFi signal. The hotel staff were very helpful and the breakfast room, tucked in a corner of the basement, was cramped but charming. And the breakfast was very hardy. Finally, the neighbourhood couldn’t be more convenient, the hotel is a short walk from the Russell Square, Euston, and King’s Cross St Pancras Underground stations. There’s also a post office, laundromat, news agent, grocery store, drug store, and multiple restaurants and convenience stores.

I have been staying at The Crescent Hotel every week for over a year while working at a nearby University. They is always a warm, friendly, welcoming atmosphere in this small family run B&B. One of a number of similar sized B&Bs on the Cartwright Gardens crescent. It’s a bit like Bath Royal crescent, but smaller and in the middle of London! The hotel is only a few hundred meters from St Pancras, Kings Cross and Euston stations and there are plenty of nearby restaurants and cafés. The hotel is extremely good value for Central London. It has around 25 rooms catering for 1 person on business, couples on a holiday, and families. Every room has Freeview TV and WiFi. Most rooms have at least a sink and shower, some with full bathroom, and a couple of cheaper rooms only have shared facilities. Breakfast is included and you have a choice of juice, cereals, fruit, tea/coffee. Hot food(including porridge) is available to order along with toast. Full English is advertised in the table, but the kitchen is happy to provide any combination and eggs however you like. But the breakfast restaurant is small with seven 4-seater tables and one 2-seater, so you have to get in early before the rush. There is a lounge with TV and a PC with Internet access and a printer and plenty of leaflets for shows and other things to do. If you’re after an affordable decent B&B, it’s great. However… due to the age and style of the building, it’s not very accessible for the disabled or if you have trouble with steep stairs(there is no lift). The plumbing is occasionally noisy, and the showers not as hot or powerful as they should be. Some windows are draughty, but creative application of the thick curtains can get around that. All windows are single glazed too, so if you are in a room at the front of the hotel, you can hear noise from the road and nearby student halls of residence.

We stayed at the Crescent Hotel for a weekend in London. The hotel is one out of several in the same block but seems to be one of the cheaper ones. On the inside it features a number of rooms, all rather small as far as we could tell and not every room is equipped with shower and/or toilet. Our room had both although the bathroom facilities are clearly getting a bit long in the tooth. This is actually true for the whole hotel and can be noticed in many small details — may it be the central heating(which is full of air and makes terrible loud noises at night) or the water pressure in the 3rd floor which is nearly non existent. The rooms are clean though, housekeeping comes by every day. Breakfast consists of a small assortment of cereals, one hot drink(coffee/tea/hot chocolate), orange and apple juice, water and English breakfast in various forms and custom combinations(scrambled eggs, poached eggs, bacon, sausages, baked beans, tomatoes, toast). The only thing we really disliked was that we once were served moldy toast which was an absolute no-go for us(especially in Britain). To sum things up: The hotel is fairly cheap(compared to other lodging in London) but this is clearly noticeable. It was okay for our short stay but we probably wouldn’t stay here again. This review has been written with Austrian hotel standards in mind. From what we’ve noticed general accommodation standards in this price range are similar in London. Finally we want to mention that all the personnel was very friendly and courteous and gave us a very familial feeling. This is definitely a plus for the Crescent Hotel.

great location! It’s a couple blocks away from Russel Square, and there’s an awesome pub around the corner too, just wish I could remember the name of it. Each room has a private bathroom. yay. This is a bed and breakfast place. The food was always yummy(eggs, any style, porridge, good bread, etc). There was even vegan butter! Even though I wasn’t vegan back then, that was awesome they had it. The maids were these cute french girls. And there was a computer with internet downstairs in this little«lobby» which nobody ever seemed to be occupying it… except the people I was with. I would highly recommend this central location.
