Much contributes to an «impression of grander» whilst not being grandiose and little effort made to welcome customers. Unsurprisingly quiet whilst the staff read books or play on phones. Indicative of a failing pub trade trying to live off former glories. «DAVE» playing on a TV which has wires hanging loose across the wall. Marble fireplace is underwhelming. Bell rung unceremoniously to call last orders with no customer interaction, not even a call of «last orders please» just an empty knell of a bell, despite there only being 6 customers in a silent bar.
Beer is a little sour but I only had one. Disinclined to revisit.
It’s clean. Little else going for it.

Good traditional pub serving Asahi on tap and a selection of real ale. I went on a Friday night and it was very quiet but the staff were very friendly and overall I will happily return.
