Stumbled on this place accidentally. A place kept meaning to drop in for a cappuccino & Strawberry Tart. For somebody with many food sensitivities & allergies, this is 1 place which I have found to be able to eat variety of food without having any concerns about the after effects. Awesome food(such a variety), friendly and very welcoming staff. Excellent customer service. Excellent & speedy service. Comfortable & friendly atmosphere, very clean & hygienic(Very important). Full of character, stories and heart. Not clinical but with history & character. Very friendly & family orientated. This is the way I like it! This is 1 of my favorite NEW Hangouts. Definitely Highly recommend.

Simple, unpretentious Italian-type food(with burgers and ribs as well), but very well done. This place is «old school» in that it probably hasn’t been redecorated since the late 70s, but that’s part of its charm. They’ve been there for decades and are likely to remain there if they keep doing what they’re doing.

I ate here recently the service was poor and staff miserable; I didn’t feel welcome. The food was very average for the price. The rocket salad was disappointing and the risotto plain. I would not recommend this restaurant.

This is the type of place that significantly reminds me of American fast food restaurants. It might be just me but I see it truly international. The food is a very good value for money, service is prompt and there is always a table available.

Recently refitted and now better than ever. Still money on the wall(since around 1975 as I recall) and that green relish is unchanged. I had a nice omelette recently. Reliable restaurant with a broad menu and good staff. Good for a quick coffee and cheesecake or a big nosh-up.

This was my favourite restaurant as a kid. My sister and I would choose it consistantly on the rare occasions when our parents would ask us where we wanted to eat out… Skip forward 30 years or so. And very little has changed. The money is still on the walls and 5 silver dollars are still the dessert of choice. And my nephews now choose this restaurant as their first choice of meal destination. It’s not«quality» cuisine, no. And their ribs are delicious.

This place has really good food. A huge selection, very reasonable prices and I love their fruity ice cream sundaes! It can feel a little middle-class and old fashioned but I like it that way. I highly recommend the burger with goats cheese and red onion marmalade — delicious. The skinny fries are really good too. Now, if only the portion sizes were a little smaller so I could enjoy more of those beautiful cream cakes in their window…

This functional eatery has been serving North Finchley for more than a generation. I recently paid it a visit for the first time in about twenty five years, and I realised why The clientele is made up almost exclusively of young families and the middle-aged taking their elderly parents out for lunch. The food is basic, but the choice is broad and the dishes are remarkably well priced — their children’s menu is particularly good value, which clearly explains the prevalence of young kids. As such, don’t expect it to be an intimate venue for evening dates, but surprisingly, it doesn’t seem to attract the kind of screaming kids that might put you off your food — the excitement of being taken there for lunch seems to contain any urges towards bad behaviour. As well as being a popular restaurant, where nothing has changed for decades apart from the font on the welcoming name-plate above the premises, Chix Chox is as well known as a takeaway patisserie, with a wide range of reasonably priced pastries.

This is a N. Finchley institution and has been around for as long(and beyond) as I’ve been around the area(over 30 years). It’s a place where old biddies come and catch up with other old biddies after doing a spot of shopping and caters well for families. It serves good, heartening food with great portions. They’re obviously doing something right to have survived as long as they have.

Having been born and brought up in the Barnet area, I know Chix Chox well and it’s predecessors as well. I agree with JujWaller, it’s doesn’t provide top notch nosh, but the foods good. A particular favourite of mine over the years have been their pancakes. On many occassion opting just for a desert after having binged out on a local Indian. So, worth a visit!

Chix Chox, owned by the delectable Fabrizio Tommasini, has become, over time, the acknowledged social and trading centre of North London. Its walls are adorned with a plethora of currencies, many showcases donated by some of the great financiers of the 20th Century who, frequenting the eatery when capital sang, put a very singular price on the history they were making. More so, the food itself is a sumptious braid of Pan-Afrique and Mediterranean offerings. Out back charlatans and the local literati play street hopscotch and trade whimsies for pasta dishes.

Chix Chox is an old favourite. You can’t really call it quality cuisine, but it’s local(if you live in Finchley), it’s cheap and it offers a bit of every type of cuisine so everyone’s happy. Although of course, when a place serves every cuisine, you have to wonder how one chef can specialise(well) in every type of food under the sun. The best thing about this place, and reason enough to pay it a visit, is that they have lollipops hanging from the ceiling, which you’re free to take as you leave! It’ll be a hit with the kids(and those who are young at heart…)
