We bobbed in here for a pre-drink before a party on Saturday and it was pretty much perfect for what we needed! We needed: — Reasonably priced drinks — Somewhere where a group of 6 of us could sit — Somewhere we could actually hear each other and have a good conversation. We got 2 out of 3! Sadly the bar was slightly too loud but that isn’t because of the bar itself but the annoying stag doo by the bar. The other negative I have and this is a BIG negative is the toilet. I think they’re one of the worst I’ve ever been with. There was wee and toilet roll all over the floor and they just stunk — it was very unsettling! And another thing that I was slightly pickity about is that they have a popcorn machine which makes the bar smell like popcorn(obviously). At first it was nice but then it just become sickening. As I said, it was pretty much perfect for what we needed but sadly just had a few things which let it down so just A-OK for me.

DISGUSTING attitude from the bouncer tonight. Came in with a finished coffee going to throw it away so I asked whether he had a bin, he was extremely rude and sent us away since he was on a huge power trip. I hope the bar manager sees this — YOUNEEDTOFIREYOURBOUNCER.

Tasty pimms cocktail. Pricey. But lovely staff and great people watching location. Limited beers on tap and only bottles cider. Plenty of comfy inside seating. A couple of outside tables. Convenient location right on the corner of brick land and Bethnel green road

Cool bar but the staff need training on drinks. I was a lowly bar staff in a local pub and I knew more about the cocktails!(Misspent youth?) saying that, the staff are friendly and chatted to us for ages.

We needed a drink… this place does drinks and it looked inviting. The décor is exactly my taste — a big bar area with lots of red soft furnishings, a pressed tin ceiling and a couple of interesting neon signs. The booths were comfy and clean, and we were able to lounge in one. The bartenders were really friendly and helpful and knew what they were doing with the alcohol. Between us we had an old fashioned and a Mai Tai. Both were delicious and we would have had seconds if we hadn’t been on a deadline. Casa Blue also serves food(which we didn’t try), but the menu looks great with burgers and pizzas that I suspect might be quite tasty, based on the quality of the drinks. The atmosphere was really relaxed and it has a sort of French Quarter vibe going on. Although we did have to beg them to change the music — I like Leonard Cohen, but more than three of his songs in a row and I start looking for the razor blades! The bartender laughed and happily moved the track on when I mentioned it. I would definitely go back.

This place has changed a bit in the past few years. Sitting pristinely on the corner of Brick Lane and Bethnal Green Road, it looks like a slightly run-down brasserie bar, with velvety banquettes and chairs. The amber lighting and music played at a decent volume encourages conversation and provides a comfortable atmosphere. It’s a far cry from a lot of the local bars where… although I’m happy with loud music generally… it’s not particularly conducive to conversation. They have your usual selection of lagers and beers, and provide a decent wine list, with some nice Merlots and Pinot Noirs on offer. I haven’t seen the fishbowl cocktails talked about in other reviews, I’m not sure they serve those anymore. Service is friendly but at a slowish pace… not irritating but simply calm. You wouldn’t go here for food; if you by chance were peckish you can order from a small selection of pizzas. Personally I like the fact that the place isn’t totally packed out and you can settle in and have a civilised chat with friends.

After visiting several beer pubs, we decided to check out this place. they’re known for the cocktails. While not very creative, they did have excellent cocktails at a very reasonable price. I did see the popular fish bowl drinks… however, since I came with only one other person(a dude), I didn’t partake. It wasn’t too crowded when I went nor pretentious. maybe I came on the right night? The lounge décor is pretty cool… Lots of tables and comfy chairs. It’s a great place to chill and hang out with friends.

1 star and that’s for the fishbowl I didn’t even have. Ridiculous prices. Ignored at the empty bar. Double poured without being asked. I only wanted a single!

I used to LOVE Casa Blue. An unpretentious bar in Shoreditch where the staff are having as good a time as you? Whats not to love? Good cocktails and cheesy music. I was theirs from the get go. When they did it up, I was weirdly excited. It looked swish and if it had the vibe of the old casa blue, i was sold. I thought, «I can have my birthday here». I tried it for a drink and was so disappointed it hurts to review it. 1. Unisex Loos. I have no problem with them if you are marketing yourself as an easy going place. In fact the old Casa Blue would have got away with it. It doesnt work. It confuses people due to the upstairs décor. 2. Table service We hadn’t a lot left in our drink when the waitress came around to ask if wanted more. Give us a chance to decide. You either end up ordering another drink when you don’t want one, or moving on when you aren’t ready. 3. Bar Staff The men behind the bar were less then friendly. If you don’t like your job, please don’t take it out on us that keep you there. 4. Food. Pizzas? Yawn. Show me something new please. 5. The stench Every time I went to the loo here(3 times over two drinks) I was greeted with a new vile smell. I won’t go into detail, but it was gross. All in all, I REALLY wanted to like this place, but they are doing everything wrong.

This was our last stop on a Saturday night pub crawl. We reserved the front seats near the big front windows — group of 20 and had plenty of seating/room. We easily booked the week before but had to pay £50 in advance. I was nervous about booking — the bartender took the payment and scribbled the reservation on the bar pad but it all worked out seamlessly. They serve reasonably priced pizza and the highlight is the fishbowl drinks. Of which we heavily indulged. :) Décor is bar standard but the place was packed and had a good vibe. I also love the Beigel shop around the corner for a late night salt beef bagel. Perfect late night grub.

A friend and I went to this bar based on the drinks alone. We got there on a weekday so we were well served and the waitress was exceptional. We ordered a fishbowl between the two of us, then got an array of snacking foods which was more than enough for dinner. The food was good, and the drink was great(bunny with a gun). The atmosphere is exactly what i want back in Minnesota where I’m from, but until then I’ll just have to come back to London to visit. it’s totally a bohemian feel, with a very chill vibe. the bathrooms were cramped for me being 6’3″ but that’s life. Not a complaint just a notation. The only odd part was that we also ordered some absinthe from the bar and the brought us shots of it. I tried explaining how absinthe is traditionally served chilled in a glass after being poured over a sugar cube and water dripped over the cube till it melts. They had no idea what all that was about which didn’t affect my enjoyment of the bar, but I thought it odd as absinthe is a European thing and though we hadn’t made it to Amsterdam just yet, I thought it would be common sense.

I’d almost like to write 2 reviews about this bar, in some respects I love it, but I’ve had terrible times here too. The cocktail prices are reasonable(from £8.50 — with a £24 Fish Bowl option) and are very tasty. I cannot comment on the food as I have not tried this. I like that you have to wait to be shown to your seat and it’s solely table service. The interior decoration is also very eclectic, shabby chic and they have very comfy seating. They also play music quietly enough so you can talk. This is an amazingly social bar, great to go to with friends, however I would say it’s best to avoid it in the week. When it’s busy they have a policy of a minimum of 4 people to a bowl and ‘if you’re too drunk we won’t serve you’ is in affect, in the week when it’s quieter this doesn’t seem to apply however. I’ve been there in the week before with groups of people trying to ‘down’ fishbowls, dancing and falling all over the place. One lady fell into me twice and I’m not sure she even realised. For a table service bar without a dance floor but with a door man, this is not acceptable. So my hint is to avoid in the week — or make a judgement call when you arrive as to how drunk the occupants are.

Love the comfy seating, the location, the ridiculously cheap lunch(two quid for a bowl of dhal and a freshly-made naan bread). Don’t like: the fact that it’s lovely and the staff are lovely and on a warm day the front windows are thrown wide open giving you a nice cool breeze. Wait, no, those are good things too.

One of those worn and battered bars that you walk into and feel instantly at home in — I love this place. One day a group of us sat in here from about 10 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon and no one asked us to leave! They do a really tasty hot chocolate with brandy although that may have been because our friend was dating the waitress! Cosy sofas, loads of places to recline and just the kind of chilled out atmosphere that so many Brick Lane hang outs seem to be lacking these days — definite tick in my book!

«I’m hot, I’m sweaty, I am surrounded by drunken fools and I’m far to sober for this right now. Save me.» These are the thoughts flashing through my mind as I stand waiting for a drink at the much too small bar. I will admit I went here on a bad night, it was late Saturday and the place was already a little too full. I’m not going to knock it totally as I will go back and try it again, I’ve heard good things about it but, not when I went. Get ready to be in someone elses personal space!

So this was on a pub crawl list, but since it was packed, we didn’t stay. But I knew I had to return. Its the fish bowl cocktails that sold me. So we came here last night and had several bowls of drinks. Yum! Their a bit pricey at 28 pounds per bowl, but kinda worth it if you think how much your actually getting. and its nice they serve food as well. But bewarned, the bowls can cause hangovers. Hence the reason i’m home on a saturday night when I should be out and about. We had 3 bowls and 2 beers. My bad! Great place tho! Certainly unique!

I’m dropping Casa Blue down a star after the appalling service last night. I waited for my drink(a single) for a good 20 minutes only to find out it had been sitting for about 15 at the bar, they simply hadn’t gotten it to me. Also, the place was hotter than an oven, and they weren’t cracking any windows. My friends and I had to head out ASAP because we were all about to faint from the heat. Come on, Casa, you can do better than this!

I came here with a friend from high school — she said its her favorite bar and that they serve drinks in a fish bowl. So, we went. Bunny with a Gun in a fishbowl… bliss!

I first stumbled upon Casa Blue with its alluring brightly coloured bulbs about three years ago and I can’t stop coming back. Made up of two rooms your eyes are constantly being pulled between the many ornaments, candles, posters and a mish-mash of eastern-style drapes and rugs that adorn every available surface. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and the service from waiters and bar staff is just top-notch. Drinks are reasonably priced, bottles of beer around £4 and cocktails for about £6. I have yet to find a better mojito in all my trips to the East End. The one drawback to the place is the toilets. For the taller gentleman, such as myself, even getting to the toilets can be a challenge as you duck down the ‘alice-in-wonderland’ style hole of a staircase and, once you reach your destination, find a cubicle with no lock and no door with which to affix one. However, unless you are in dire need of a poo, you find yourself laughing it off as you look about at the many intelligent messages strewn around the bog. Casa Blue is a great place to start a big night or finish a not so big one.
