I have To admit I’m a bit dissapointed, I love carluccio’s Brooks and the cookig programs like«two greedy italians» so I really had great expectaions. Maybe too big. I had the fish stew which was good it had Manu types of fish in it and I enjoyed rating it. My mum had the risotto and I had a taste, in compairison To my stew this was really blend and I missed more chicken and more seasoning. The concept and the service were great!

Morning coffee here is awesome! £2 for large flat white AND fresh french pastry. Delicious barista-made coffee — very smooth. Ate dinner here a couple of times. Lasagna was excellent. They have a great shop section too with beautiful cookies etc.

Not a bad place to grab a quick lunch. They have a changing daily selection for lunch to go items. They also have a special for a pasta and drink. Didn’t get to have the sit-down experience.

The Smithfield Carluccios never fails to make me happy. The food is always excellent and served relatively quickly, and the service is fantastic. I’ve had the same waiter the last few times I’ve been in and he’s always friendly, quick, and recommends good wines and side dishes without being pushy. His pairings have not let me down yet, and I always leave with a full belly and a smile on my face. I think I’m going to end up there a lot!

Not too bad. I tried the prosciutto appetizer and spaghetti carbonaro(sp?). I loved the smoked bacon on the spaghetti, the sauce was a little thin but was good. Looking forward to trying something different tomorrow.

We were recommended to go to this place for lunch by our travel guide. He said it was a place where locals went. Did not expect it to be an Italian restaurant. However, once we got over the disappointment of not eating local food, we had a marvelous time. Service was friendly and prompt. Menu was nice, especially the lunch specials. Price was fair for the portion size served. Quality of food was excellent. It gives the impression of being a local place, so I was surprised to find out that I is prt of a chain. Would recommend for quality and value.

Had pasta to go. Was really great and although it was after the lunch rush it was still hot.

In my opinion, Carluccios in general is very much overrated, however, our first visit to the Smithfield branch was appalling. We were told that we would have to wait 10 mins for a table, which was fine. The 10 mins turned into closer to 30, in spite of tables being vacant. However, the chap in charge of clearing tables seemed totally oblivious to the huge queue as he was taking 15 minutes to clear a table(note that this is not fine dining — there isn’t even table cloths, folded napkins or flowers on the tables!!!) But he seemed unable to carry more than 2 sets of knife and forks at a time to a table of 4. After finally being seated, the waiter got our order wrong(in fairness, there were two of us ordering one course each). My pasta with«boar ragu» looked(and tasted) like pasta mixed with a tin of tomato baby food. They didn’t charge us for the order they got wrong, but they might as well since we won’t be going to Carluccios again.

Very popular, buzzing(in the week anyway) branch of this Italian chain. Pleasing take on any number of Italian traddy dishes, with a deli inside offering a selection of goodies to take away. Not the finest dining experience to be had in this part of town, but is that why you’d come to a chain? Good for workday lunches and, as you’d hope, does good coffees too.

This place was AWESOME! Good food, good service. I ordered some sort of Italian pasta. It was very good, too! We got all the desserts and shared them. They had a full kids menu and it was very good. The only thing that should have had was pizza.

This was recommended in a travel book for families visiting London… Without a doubt, this was my best dining experience in England in 2010. The wine, pasta, and ambience were terrific. The service was strong, and my two daughters(11 and 12 years of age) were pleased with the food choices. Located close to a tube station and across from the site where William Wallace was drawn and quartered, this joint could not be beat! Reasonable prices, good pours on wine, excellent price-fixed menu selections, and clean and modern décor… GOHERE!!!

Starving on Sunday and it’s past 6 pm? This is pretty much your only option because everything in the area closes super early. But it’s a really good choice, the atmosphere is very relaxing, the food is good and the wine is nice. The service, however, leaves a bit to be desired. It seems everytime we go there, the waiters run around freaked out for having ten tables between three of them… what would happen if it actually got busy? Clearly, their heads would explode. Perhaps I simply go back to witness this event. The Pasta is very good, especially the Penne and ravioli. If you’re feeling adventerous, try the liver and onions, it’s superb. They have a two courses for £9.95 deal that can’t be beat, because you literally have to be rolled out of there from being so full. They also have takeaway of fabulous looking deserts and sides, so stop in if you’re feeling peckish(since the lower rating mainly has to do with the ridiculousness of the service) One final word, don’t let the servers sit you near the counter because they tend to empty the trash and throw bottles around, which is distracting. We had to actually ask them to stop as we couldn’t hear each other from two feet away.

Nice place that’s hard to criticize. Still, there’s something about it that doesn’t quite live up to the hype. For one thing, it’s pretty expensive. I suppose you’re paying for a high standard of quality but still, there are plenty of other yummy options nearby(The Eagle, Comptoir Gascon, Club Gascon, Kipfurl, Fox & Anchor etc, etc, etc). So, Carluccio’s ain’t nothing too precious. However, I must give it up to Carluccio’s for being open on Sunday in an area where lots of the best restos aren’t. Of course, that all means it’s best to make a rez if you plan to go as it gets super packed.

This Carluccio’s will always hold a special place in my heart — being the venue for our first dinner as an engaged couple. Considering as it was only a few days before Christmas, and were therefore heaving with office trade, they went out of their way to make our evening special and intimate, and even provided a complimentary glass of prosecco. I do like their menu, and it is the same as the other branches, although their set meals at Christmas are a little pricey. Whilst I do love this restaurant, I think it is a little cramped in terms of seating layout, and definately think they could take the less is more approach.

Brilliant place to go but lunch times best avoided as the wait for a table can get very lengthy at this time. Staff are very welcoming, lots of different specials which regularly change meaning there is always something new to try. Food is always very good and is prepared within site of most tables meaning it is all freshly prepared to order. Carluccio’s is a good place to go whether you are after a coffee, a quick bite to eat or a good hearty meal. There is always a lively atmosphere, prices are very reasonable considering the location of this branch.

Great place to have lunch — a little oasis of civilisation in the middle of London. Authentic italian cuisine in a lovely, airy setting — particularly pleasant in summer when the city can get stifling. There is a traditional choice of italian recipes on the menu — my favourite is spaghetti alle vongole. This particular café is situated in Smithfields so the immediate area is very quiet as well. The service is extremely friendly and the prices are pretty reasonable, considering London costs. Definitely worth a visit.
