We walked in with 15 people just completely out of the blue. They pulled out all the stops to seat us which was really wonderful of them. I had eggs florentine and a side of seasonal veggies(kale, spinach and cabbage in a really nice dressing) lovely stuff. My eggs were perfect and obviously good quality as my yolks were red and not anaemic yellow. The muffin could have been toasted a little better but it was still delicious. They were kind enough to give us separate bills and were very patient with our group. This isn’t the kind of place I would come unless I was in Canary Wharf though.

Great lunch deal for steak and skin on chips. Quick service and good quality. Nice for a quick bite as it took me 30 minutes from sitting down to exiting. Place also has power sockets if you’re always online like me and need to charge your devices.

I had a business lunch here yesterday and it was fine. I think one has to understand that this isn’t in a residential area and the restaurant has to accommodate massive fluctuations in throughput. The experience may be quite different at a weekend. Yesterday I walked in with a friend and associate, we were sat down quickly, the restaurant was not overly full and we were served quickly and efficiently. We both had the chicken and mushroom pie, which was the special with some wilted spinach, my friend had it with mash. I had it with some stupendous chips. They seem to have been twice cooked and were crispy and lovely. We both had it with some refreshing fresh orange and lemonade. All good.

It is a busy place during the week for lunch so def recommend making reservations before you go. For starters, I had the scotch egg(yum!) and my friend had the kidney thing on toast(yuck). I’ve never heard of that particular kidney dish and will probably never try it again. When they were taking our places away, they looked concerned and asked what was wrong with it. We said it was our mistake of ordering it as we’ve never tried it. I didn’t want to push to take it off our bill but I think he was ready to if we didn’t insist that we made a wrong choice in ordering. The chicken pie was divine. I’d def go back on a Tuesday just to have that again.

I had a nice meal here at lunchtime during the week. I work just down the road, so it was convenient to meet my wife here for lunch. The inside has a nice, comfortable layout and I was satisfied with the service we got(it was good, but not great). They had the typical British pub lunch offerings — my wife got roast beef(with the trimmings) and I got the chicken pie. These were tasty and I was happy to mop up the leftover beef and potatoes that my wife didn’t eat. The pricing is on the high side, so I wouldn’t make a special trip here for lunch.

I’ve read the reviews on here for this and felt that I had to give another viewpoint. I like this place, although admittedly I do tend to go here on weekend lunchtimes so its never very busy, except with a few young parents and their children. The Full English Breakfast is really pretty good, don’t go expecting a greasy fry up though, this is a posh Full English — they even put some greenery on the plate! Having said its posh it also tastes good, granted at around £10 its pretty expensive and not a massive blowout but if you’re after quality and not quantity then its a good option. I’ve also had the Pie of the Day which was pretty good too. All in all I think its worth more than the 1 and 2 star reviews. I’ve always had good attentive service here and they have free Wifi too!

Hmm ok breakfast but for price. I would say Krugger at the other end of the shopping centre is far better and cheaper. Not sure why this chain has managed to gain the title of Great British food, because its not great. Its not awful just ok. Although its nice you can sit outside

I hate giving a one star rating. I wanted this restaurant to be good given that it is pricey, in a nice area and is lovely inside. I’m afraid, however, a few things just were in excusable. We arrived to an EMPTY restaurant at 7:45pm and had 2 drinks at the bar. We saw a rounded booth and decided to stay for a meal. The staff informed us that we could not sit there and we needed to sit on the other side of the restaurant. …fair enough. She wanted to keep the 2 tables dining in the ghost town together. We sat down and she immediately asked us if we were ready to order!!! Ummmmm… no, we weren’t. Once she came back over, we asked about the fish of the day… Fishcakes!!! That isnt’ a fish of the day. Halibut, Cod, Bass… those are fish of the day. They were out of the pie of the day AND out of chicken. THERESTAURANTISEMPTY… I ordered the steak. The starter was eh okay. I got mushroom soup… I wish it had been hot. Our drinks sat empty and once our meal came, the server finally decided to ask if we wanted another round. We tucked into our meal. It became apparent to me that a LARGE portion of my steak was fat. I ordered my meat Medium Rare… my fave and I think if I had really pressed into the cow, I would have gotten a pulse. It was BARELY seared on each side and was RAW/red in the center… RARER than rare. It was horrible. I got a salad instead of chips and got lettuce with a light dressing… nothing else. My man had the shepards pie and said it was alright… not great. Considering the prices, it should have been good. We finally got to dessert and I ordered an Americano which was alright. It took ages to get our bill resolved and at the end… I was just happy to leave. I would say if you are in the area, give this a miss and head to one of the other restaurants in the area… I would not go back.

I would imagine this place gets rammed at lunchtime with all the office space nearby, but for brunch on a Sunday morning it was only mildly busy mostly with families. Breakfast is served all day and includes the usuals you would expect for a British-style restaurant: porridge, eggs, bacon sandwich and Eggs Florentine/Benedict/Royale. I had the Benedict and it was heavenly. Soft-poached eggs with plenty of hollandaise and a slice of bacon(«ham» to an American) on a sliced English muffin. The coffee latte was also good, even though it was served in a short glass instead of a mug. The lunch and dinner offerings look to be quite nice. Pies of the day as well as a daily roast, plus chicken, salads, steak and chips and a daily fish. If it is anything like my breakfast, I’m sure it will be good. They do have a free wifi(passcode«pieandmash») but it didn’t work for me. Several umbrella topped tables are outside that face the tall buildings and grassy area. Many of the inside tables have power outlets.
