I admit it: I was set to love Caffe Concerto from the moment I walked by their dessert-filled front window. But the experience from the moment I walked in(mostly) helped to seal the deal, too. Cozy but clean, Caffe Concerto’s décor and setting definitely got me in the mood to enjoy a night in a theatre in London, especially with their polished woodwork and lovely couches. There were no live performances by musicians in the venue the night of my visit, but knowing this is something I could experience on future visits is pretty cool. As for dinner itself, I ordered a duck and pear salad with berry dressing. It was absolutely delicious: quite sweet overall thanks to the fruity nature of the salad. And the duck was moist and prepared perfectly, which ensured that it wasn’t tough or overly greasy — not something you want on your salad, after all. My dining buddy and I also shared a piece of cake before we left, and I have to say, yum! Very fluffy, but also surprisingly rich; sharing dessert was the right call that night, that’s for sure. My only negative memory that night was that service did strike us as a tad slow. But it wasn’t terribly slow, and we took the opportunity to talk and enjoy our food before our show. I think we would both happily return, if only for the opportunity to enjoy a glass of wine and a big ol’ piece of delicious dessert!

Had a late breakfast here last week. I had the Croque Missuer(however ya spell that) and that’s not really what I got. What I did get was a fairly massive ham and cheese sambo that was almost toasted. In its own way it was quite nice. The bread was lovely and the fillings bountiful. If it had been properly toasted I would have raved about it. but the sogginess let it down. Hubby was happy enough with his Eggs Benidict. Solid food, but not so cheap considering your in tourist central.

I actually enjoyed the restaurant. The best part was the live piano music and singer. The food was good and really something for everyone on the menu from burgers, steaks, chicken, and pasta. I had the focaccia bread basket with olive oil which was good. I then had tomato and mozzarella as an appetizer followed by chicken Milanese. Overall, everything was good and nice to have dinner to live music.
