The last time I’ve bought something from Brora was back in December 2010 and that was black/noir pure Scottish cashmere scarf. I do not really have an opinion about the guys who work here. However, I’ve been told that the staff can be quite aloof.

I quite agree with Alissandra, Brora has some really nice cashmere clothing. My girlfriend was quite a fan of it, despite the(ridiculously) high prices(given the old fashioned cuts) as she saw her cardigans etc as investments. She’s been dragging me there regularly for a year or so and thankfully her interest is beginning to wane: first the quality is quite poor and garments don’t really age well, second the high prices don’t actually mean that their stuff is anything but not really fashionable, and last their staff have followed the trend of the whole high street that sees itself as the new fashionable/smart place in London, and they have developed quite an attitude. Smugness and high prices are ok in Knightsbridge, I guess, but I can’t quite recommend that shop that’s been there since before it was the place for hipsters/ho-bo brunchers and American bankers. It used to be a nice place to find something really snug and traditional/classy but it kind of misses the point these days. Of course it’s only an opinion, I just think the details I give here can help you make your mind as well.

Scottish Cashmere feels like heaven. I discovered this shop back in October when it wasn’t quite cold enough for mittens and sweaters, but kept it in mind to retune when it was a bit colder. This store is quite expensive, so when I received money for my Christmas present I decided that I would splurge on a pair of £35 gloves. I suppose lots of people had this idea because to my horror the gloves I wanted were all sold out, and the only ones left were not in the colour I or anybody else wanted it seems. If I am going to spend £35 on a pair of gloves that I will probably lose before next winter, they had better be exactly what I want. They did have cashmere socks on sale for £15. Other than that the sweaters and blankets can reach over £100. If you can spare it, I would shop here because the material feels like heaven on your skin. They have items for men, women, children, and babies.
