I like this place because it’s really relaxed and good value. They make lovely drinks and the food, although not the finest cuisine around, is still great for what you’re paying. Plus, the staff are very friendly and efficient. Just like any other place there are things you should stay away from & things you should try, like the scallops, & the couscous is also great. Every fish dish I’ve had there has been delicious. A Grand Marnier dessert I had once though was so soaked in alcohol it burned on the way down!(Perhaps a fast way to get pissed???) They also have a good kids menu.

This is another big disappointment for me. A pricy restaurant that doesn’t deserve the visit. Food quality is questionable.

After a few summer strolls past this French Brasserie, the break of dawn was upon us again and hunger met my belly. We ventured for a pre-work meal and were faced with the reality that Brasserie Chez Gerard was not a lavish French eatery but instead a hotel breakfast buffet. After much humming and hoeing we paid and sat down(in that order). The food was typical for a buffet English breakfast but was nice and the muesli, fruit and nut selection to go with the yogurt was very satisfying. If I were more of an eating machine, I would have taken more advantage of the all-you-can-eat element of the meal. The £7.50 price tag was actually very reasonable considering the Belsize Park location and I reminisced about my last exotic hotel vacation with every bite. Nothing to sneeze at as far as I’m concerned but perhaps not top on my list for my next am adventure.

I was up with the dawn so decided to take my lovely lady for breakfast. Brasserie Chez Gerard looks tantalising from the outside, inside turned out to be a hotel breakfast buffet. There were three choices, full breakfast for £7.50, continental breakfast for £5 or a croissant and drink for a couple of quid. I wanted something a little more special in mind and the French accents of the waitresses weren’t working there magic on me. Yet we decided to stay and went for the full, eat as much as you want £7.50 brekkie. It was a serve yourself system and I plated up a Full English, a bowl of dried fruits with yogurt, a plate of of freshly cut fruits and a couple of glasses of pomegranate juice. Thinking about it… £7.50 for all that. Definitely worth it.
