We came here wanting to try something a little different, but close to home. The rave reviews on other websites enticed us, so we hoped on the train to Highbury & Islington and found the very little restaurant with the interesting name of «Black Axe Mangal». Luckily as we arrived at 10pm, and most people were finishing their meals, we only had to wait 15mins to be seated — just enough time to pop over to Barclays to get cash, as this place is CASHONLY. The menu had interesting names with little description, but the Pigs Cheek, Scallop & Chilli sounded great, so we ordered that along with a side of the sesame flat bread and a side of cabbage. 5* goes to the flat bread, which was really delicious. However the name of the main was not really accurate, scallops were nowhere to be seen on the plate — we were informed they were mixed with the chilli sauce — but what sauce? What chilli? Three dry pieces of mainly fatty fried meat lay on the small plate next to 5 leaves of salad… I might’ve paid £7 for this — but £13?! Bit of a rip off… The soft drinks were very nice too, but I’d not come here again. For the mains.
