I live locally and frequently pass the Big Yellow storage. So when it came to moving out of my flat I knew where I’d make my first enquiry. The team on the phones were not only helpful but friendly and suggested various removal companies that could assist me with the move. I picked Handy Moves from their recommendation. With my move looming I was starting to make a small inventory of my belongings. I used the online web chat service to get some advice on what size storage to book. This was really handy as sometimes you just don’t have time to make a call especially when you’re at work. On the day of the move there was a bit of queue as you need to register. I would recommend doing this before you have your removal van get there. The reception staff were really helpful and chatty. They also let my removal men double check the room I was booking was big enough before hand. As you would expect there are moving trollies available and the key code system is really easy to use. Overall a relatively painless experience.

Although walking through this storage superstore’s empty white corridors of never-ending doors makes a person feel like they’re wandering an insane asylum… if it weren’t so clean and well-lit… or the people so nice… you might actually lose your mind walking around the neutral-toned maze of hallways and endless doors. Let’s face it, large blocks of self-storage units can be scary. What’s *in* all those cordoned-off vaults anyway? I mean, helloooo… that movie about lambs??? And because I’m a constant mover, I’ve stored my stuff in various storage units all over the world — always with reputable companies, but those that ended up being nonetheless dodgy and worrisome when you started walking around and got up-close. Fortunately, I’ve felt none of the dicey concern with any of my dealings or strolls through Big Yellow. The units and halls are immaculate. They have plenty of dollies on hand to help you get your stuff from the lobby to the inner sanctum of sub-basement 4 and back again. Plus the staff is extremely nice and patient… dare I say *understanding* of what a stressful and anxious wreck you can be when you’re shifting(or maybe that’s just me?) Plus, I would say that their rates are reasonable and that, depending on your exact arrangement with them, often pro-rated… so that you’re only paying for the days when you’re storing things rather than entire months at a time.
