I come to this place probably at least every 2 months and I am never disappointed. The super friendly staff is always ready to help and sharing smiles with other people. I always try to order something different, but probably I already trued every item from their menu. I recommend this place to all food and good vibes lovers.

I’m really not quite sure how this place has got such good reviews. The food was bordering on awful. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a burger. The pulled pork was so salty I could feel my arteries filling up as I ate a mouthful. I didn’t eat any more. We also had a burger which was instantly forgettable. Had we not been so hungry we’d have left that too! They did refund us the food and were very apologetic which was nice to see. The bar staff, who spoke broken English which made ordering tricky also, were aside from that very welcoming. They are the reason for the two stars. The vino was also nice. If you want a burger, go to the Advisory on Mate Street. Makes this burger look like a joke! You come here for the wine alone I’m afraid!

I’ve been meaning to pop in for brunch for the longest time, and on Sunday I finally did. Came over with a friend — both rocking some nasty hangovers and was looking to soak up the booze. To be fair, the food was good — not amazing or spectacular — but it did the job. I did see some other plates coming out and will be going back to try them out. Where Bardens lost its stars from me was the service. Everything from ordering to getting water, coffees and food seemed to take ages. Staff were lovely and really nice, but everything was just so slow. It also didn’t help that there was a toddler sitting next to us screaming for a good portion of while we were there(Dear parents, please control your ankle-biters! p. s I love kids, just not the ones who can’t behave in public). I feel like it may have just been an off day. I’ll have to re-review after another visit to see if this was just a one-off situation.

I have just moved to Dalston and am so gald I have found this place. Came here with a friend for a quick after work drink last Friday and ended up staying all night! Drinks are really reasonably priced — on the cheap side actually — I was very pleasently surprised to return from the bar with change each time. The Dj was playing some old School hip hop tunes that I havn’t heard since I was at school! I was loving it! All of the staff were really friendly — all of them! They were lovely and chatty at the bar asking how my night was going, joking and dancing. From reading the reviews below I cannot wait to eat here too! Yeeeeeeeeeey! New local! I’m very pleased indeed.

This is an excellent brunch spot. I ordered the super filling Mediterranean Breakfast for £5. My sister enjoyed her £3 club sandwich. I enjoyed about three bites of it too, when she wasn’t paying attention. Check it out.

I just stuffed my face full of food that would normally cost at least 50% anywhere else for this quality. A full English will set you back as little as a fiver, considering you’re in seriously comfortable surroundings and not some greasy spoon café I think this is a bargain. I had the grilled chicken breast ciabatta sandwich with extra bacon. £6.50 for the massive sandwich plus decent enough chips and 75p for loads of extra bacon. Yes! This place only serves food until 5pm and afterwards it’s a bar. I haven’t been for a drink there in the evening but am definitely planning to. They have artwork for sale on the walls as is usual these days in Dalston. Oh and fresh juice(as in juiced right in front of you) for £2.50! I had the apple and mint which was great. I see myself becoming a regular here very quickly. PS — they also serve Monmouth coffee, not sure if that means anything to anyone.

This is a secret gem in Dalston — 5 stars for value and quality of food. Its a little dark, but service is prompt but not too fast. They have the papers and a good selection of reading material. I live almost next-door and have been a few times for a leisurley brunch with friends. It has a great atmosphere — both family-friendly and for younger twenty-somethings. For a generous plate of eggs benedict with home-made hashed potatoes and side salad, a tall creamy late, a cappucinno, and a full english breakfast — delicatley cooked with a side-order of wholemeal toast came to £12. Bargainous. They also have home-made organic lunch options and freshly made smoothies.

Bardens is back from the dead, hooray. Only now it’s a café and and bar directly above where the club used to be. Total transformation though, none of that sticky floor dive bar thing going on. It’s all bare brick, clean toilets and lots of wonderful illustration work hanging from its walls. I’ve been here twice in the past week, first off for a Thursday night drink. nice and relaxed, full bar, friendly bar staff and not crazy busy. Perfect noise level for a catch up whilst still keeping up a good atmosphere. Then again for lunch the following Monday… Wow the food was freakin good. Nice brunch style menu. Got great vegi and Mediterranean breakfasts both just £5, best breakfast down that stretch I’ve had in ages. Busy for a Monday lunch, lots of people on their laptops working away, decent music playing and quick service. Couldn’t complain at all. Already got plans to go back there, total gem.

Seeing as I live across the road from this bar/café, I tend to frequent it quite a bit. The food, as previous reviewers have pointed out, is so reasonably priced for the area and tasty too! The breakie’s are fab, as are the brunch/lunch meals too. Drinks are pretty cheap and the staff are friendly and relaxing. A great local café/bar indeed. Oh, free wifi too!
