While the server was sullen and not that responsive, the food was to die for! Really fresh ingredients. I’d go again in a heart beat.

I ordered a pick up from here. Tom Yum soup paid 8£ for the smallest portion ever no spoon no napkins. Maybe 1 shrimp in there. Very disappointed!

I really hate to hate on mom and pop joints but given that this place has been in business for 60 years, I suppose they’ll be fine. I’ll give you the good and the bad: The good: everything tastes pretty good. The bad: nothing tastes like Thai food except for the fish cakes. The«Thai noodles»(which were referenced as similar to pad thai by the waitress) tasted like Singapore style stir fry noodles and were made of mai fun(thin rice vermicelli). The red curry chicken tasted like chicken tikka masala. Now I have been forced to re-evaluate my two decades of eating American Thai food and my handful of experiences eating Thailand Thai food because the experience here is like a really deep moment in a weed-filled haze: have I never tasted real Thai food before? Is this real Thai food? Or do British people have no idea what Thai food is and that’s why this has been here for 6 decades? DEEPTHOUGHTS. But no, seriously, somebody answer my question.

Best Thai food ever. Been going there since 1974. Try to get there at least 2 – 3 or more a year. Excellent. Book a table to avoid disappointment.

I am generally not prone to hyperbole. If you examine my restaurant ratings, I have been balanced between good and bad restaurants and in addition, I frequently will return to a restaurant to re-examine whether my first impression was accurate. It is with this in mind when I state that Bangkok was simply the worst meal I’ve had in London, value for money. Bangkok is located on Bute Street, which can really be described as the armpit of South Kensington. Across the street there is a takeaway pizza and kebab shop and a chicken rotisserie restaurant — the word incongruous comes to mind. The physical restaurant itself is fairly nondescript — generally clean with a red, woody interior. The kitchen itself was visible and quite clean. The food and prices of said food were the issue here. The spring rolls were clearly pre-manufactured and dropped straight in from the freezer. However, they were probably the best item I had there today. The beef penang(whatever that means) was a mash-up of overcooked poor-quality beef, corn starch and some unidentifiable non-green vegetables. The«fried chicken» were three strips of rubbery chicken that were clearly microwaved and drenched in soy sauce. The fried noodles were similar to the kind that you find being sold late-night in Soho, but at 5x the price. The mixed vegetables dish contained the same mysterious terrible vegetables that were in the beef penang — perhaps a new species only native to Thailand? OK onto value for money. So we’ve established that the food is terrible. As for the portion sizes, they were minuscule. So what did I pay? 32 pounds a head! For the privilege of eating small portions of the worst«Thai» food I’ve ever had in a subpar location? The crazy thing is that the restaurant was completely full. Either I came on a completely off day, or people are fools. I certainly feel like a fool for patronizing this establishment.

We were taken here by friends who’ve been eating at this restaurant for 20 years. And now I understand why! We had soup with mince chicken in it as a starter. It’s the chef’s grandmother’s recipe and was brilliant, the red chicken curry was thick and unlike the curry found in every other Thai restaurant in London. The basil chicken looked and tasted like the one that my father makes(he lived in Thailand for a decade). Excellent! I am going back again very soon!

Decent Thai food, reasonable prices and friendly staff. Not the most romantic /lively venue but great for a relatively quick and easy bite to eat. Enjoyed the wall art too.

Best Thai food ever, not a fancy place but the food is excellent, the place is very clean and the staff are great. Gets very very busy in the evenings so it may be worth booking a table.

This is my favorite go to Thai Restaurant. Always warm and yummy. I generally stick to the fried pasta(wontons), beef omelete(strange, but delicious), fried rice noodles, and veggies. You leave feeling satisfied but not stuffed.
