We came in just after the theatre crowd so it’s not so crazy. Just finished the buckingham palace tour and want some good English pub food. We ordered: Roasted lamb Fish and chips Roasted scotch beef and creamed horseradish sandwich with French beans See posted pics. Lamb was good and everything else is ok. First time having minted mushy peas… quite good.

We were on our way to the Eye, it’s on a main intersection on Victoria street. Looked at the menu and they were advertising £12 fish and chips. We decided to sit outside. It is such a busy intersection. If you like people watching its a great areA, but you may also get asked questions by tourist on directions. People will stare at what you eat and there will be a lot of background noise. My husband and I didn’t mind and enjoyed eating outside even tho we both are non smokers. We ordered the smoked salmon(£7) the calamari(£7.5) the fish and chips of course(£12) and an organge lemonade(£2.95). Smoke salmon was good, very salty but wi be great with beer. Calamari was a bit over fried. Fish and chips… Well we had better in and out of town. In general the food was not that great but we had a great time and it was a great convenient location! Oh and I almost forgot– they have the best mashed up green peas I’ve ever eaten!

One of the first restaurants we came to when we first moved from the States and one of my favorites. It was good to me then and never fails to impress. Great pub food and wine list. Great atmosphere and my favorite, people watching. We go back again and again and take all our company.

Made a pit stop here while waiting for my partner. Haven’t found a nice place for a good glass of wine in Victoria, and this was no exception. Terribly named, stuffy establishment, with a distracted bar staff and a strange clientele. It’s never a good sign when you walk into a bar and the entire crowd(of beer drinking suits and cosmo drinking faux furs) turns to stare. Creepy. The wine list is fine, but I definitely wouldn’t return.

We went to Balls Brothers before seeing Billy Elliot. I ordered the feta and pea risotto and my friend ordered the tomato mozzarella sandwich. Both dishes were a great value for the price and both were made with fresh ingredients. There isn’t much to choose from in this part of town so if you’re looking for a pre theater meal, this is a good option.

Needed a place to drink wine near Victoria on a Sunday evening. Unilocal said it was closed but luckily were walking passed to get to another bar and spotted it was open. Pleasant place, very quiet for Sunday but from other reviews, I gather is gets very busy midweek and pre theatre. Polite and friendly waiter who helped picked the wine and then left us to catch up with friends. Nice enough.

Balls Brothers(what a name!) is a group of a dozen and a half bars and restaurants in London. More focused on after-work drinks, they do have lunch and dinner menus. This location near Victoria also has a «pre-theatre» menu with two courses for a reasonable price. I went online and booked our table and I think it was good that I did. When our party arrived, the table had a «reserved» sign and was the only one open in the place at 6:30PM. We ordered drinks and did our usual best to hassle the waitress who took it all in very good humor. A tray of shared nibbles(grilled lamb koftas, cheese sticks, fish cakes, sausages, cheese and tomato wraps) went down nicely. Another round of drinks and we ordered dinner. Even though we weren’t going to the theatre, that menu was still available to us. I had the goats cheese tart to start and it was excellent. The steak sandwich arrived a bit later and was cooked rare, just like I asked. On a toasted focaccia bread and with a pile of very hot chips. Boom, I cleared my plate. No dessert for us. A party of five with a couple of drinks each and it was still a very reasonable price. I’d have no problem returning here.
