So apparently i’m stubborn and ignored all the reviews which said this place was disappointing and went full steam ahead excited into a lobster roll and mac n’ cheese. I am joining the side of the disappointed; bland, expensive and poor. I’m sorry to say it but I’m hurt right now.

I’m sad to say I was pretty disappointed by this place. The word«lobster» in the name immediately caught my eye at Street Feast and both my friend and I both gravitated over to the stall. Just from looking at the menu we were a bit put off — I mean, 14 pounds for a lobster roll that’s barely 6 inches? 10 pounds for a bowl of lobster mac & cheese? Nevertheless, our love of lobster led us against all logic to order one lobster mac & cheese to share. After about 8 minutes our order was ready. The bowl was puny, which already made it disappointing. But the first bite made it even more so. I don’t know what kind of cheese they used, but it was not good and also quite bland. But the saddest part was how the entire bowl only contained 6 teeny pieces of lobster(yes, we counted). It was good lobster alright, but just 6? Really? If I’m paying 10 pounds($ 15) for a bowl of LOBSTER mac & cheese, it had better be amazing and/or contain more than just 6 pieces of lobster. Unfortunately, this place did not satisfy either requirement.

Had the lobster ma c and cheese. Not bad, but the mac and cheese bit felt a bit too processed(though I’m sure it’s not). The tuna tacos were the standout dish. Fantastic fresh and interesting dish. Never had anything like that. The Lobster roll was good. Not as good as Burger and Lobster’s brioche roll though if compared.

I just love this place. Lobster in brioche rolls out on the street under cover. You can even have them with beers from The Market Porter! This isn’t a cheap sandwich, but it’s very tasty. They’ll also sell you something foxy in a glass to go with it.

I love food trucks. I got even more excited when I saw that the real food festival was coming to Northbank — right in Victora Embankment Gardens so I didn’t have to go across the river to indulge. I was torn between this and the mac and cheese truck and of course went with this as I’ve heard so much about it. It seemed like the perfect day for it. Sunny, no queue, something that isn’t too heavy yet fills you up. I decided to go for the large lobster roll as I saw the smaller ones… and it looked like you’d have 2 bites at most with that. The brioche was really good — probably loaded with tons of butter(yum!). They filled the sandwich quite well with the lobster meat. It was cold but thought it was a little bit bland. Maybe I needed to add a dash of salt to it but overall could probably remember the taste of the brioche but the lobster was just a-ok. At 13 quid a pop, it is a slightly more expensive lunch but nice to indulge in once in a while. I’d like to try the crab sandwich or the tacos next time which may drive me to update my review. I really wanted to love it! I will give it another chance.

Delicious Lobster Rolls, come baaaaaack! Well, they’re gone for now, but I can’t wait until they come back with a bang! Their lobster roll is one packed with serious flavour, and their dill pickles(with fresh dill served on them, might I add) are beyond amazing! Next time I come, I’m trying everything. I heard the ahi tuna tacos and the lobster bisque were delicious, so I know what’s next on my tasting list.

wow a lobster roll, i’ve seen this delight on ManVFood and i have wanted to try this. It was tastelicious — toasted bun oozing with lobster goodness served with a crisp pickle costing £11 it was a great starter, i really needed a bit more to make it a meal. They also served a gourmet lobster mac n cheese £8 — it smelts heavenly!!! and lobster bisque at £6. To have been full i would have needed the the mac n cheese & lobster roll It really is a great menu but not filling unless you want to spend some money and as you have no seats its really a gourmet food van than eaterie. Would i go again, most definetly as it was very tasty

Oh no, I’ve wanted to review B.O.B.‘s Lobster and it’s too late. They’ve closed up shop! … For now. They promise they are coming back soon with more lobstery goodness, so I’m going to review them anyway and when they return, you can be ready. I love lobster. Having grown up on the coast of Massachusetts in the states, we do seafood and we do it well. And lobster’s one of those funny items where you eat it in 5-star white-linen restaurant and then also in your backyard with corn and baggy sweatpants on a hot summer’s day. You just do it. So I’ve tried a lot of lobster, and B.O.B.‘s did it right. Serving out of a van in Borough Market, they were always friendly, fast(unless they were swamped) and great. Cheaper than any other lobster roll in town(at £11 while all the other ones are upwards of £18) and just as good. Delicious meat, buttery roll, I could eat this baby all day long and still want more. They also do dishes like tuna tacos and lobster mac and cheese, both which I enjoyed. The only issue with lobster roll is it’s filling but not overly filling and you may walk away hungry. I know it would have been near impossible to put a deep fryer into that van but a side of chips with this baby would have been perfect. Bob, wherever you open next, that’s my suggestion. And then I really may be there every day, all day.

A big hand for Alex S, our esteemed London Unilocal community manager who organised a CMYE at B.O.B.(never did find out what the acronym stands for) Lobster van We headed there on the last day that the van would be in residence at Borough Market. There was a party atmosphere with balloons up and a big crowd, no doubt wanting to get their last fix of seafood We lucky Elites were fortunate to get a free signature lobster roll, which would usually cost £11 and a glass of bubbly(I got homemade lemonade instead). I’ve been holding off lobster roll as my US friends in New England have asked me not to partake until I visit them and they would take me for the best lobster roll in the world However, when free food calls, I’m there! The lobster roll was delicious. I was expecting a plain soft roll but B.O.B’s have toasted their bread to give added texture, buttered it generously and filled it with a good portion of sweet soft lobster bound together with mayo. Great taste and flavour but perhaps not the largest sandwich in the world I didn’t try their lobster mac n cheese and lobster bisque but they did smell fantastic Bye bye B.O.B. and hope to see you back next year. Thanks to Alex for a fun evening

This joint is crazy town! Ordering everything on the menu was the right call. Everything was fab, especially memorable was the tuna taco and lobster roll. Chunky lobster pieces everywhere! Sierra Nevada is a questionable choice in beer — too bitter against the seafood profile, me thinks. Lemonade saved the day. Best visit soon. Come September the VW van is going, going, gone.

I know it’s a sacrilege to come to a Lobster van and get Ahi Tuna Tacos. But, I’m a little allergic to shellfish — so, no bueno. But DAMN them Ahi Tuna Tacos were amazing. It’s kinda weird, because it’s like Burger and Lobster came out to party and take up shop outside Borough Market. And any food popup that is in a VW camper van is #1 in my book. #fanofthevan!

I have been dreaming of a lobster roll since I have watched something on Food Network.(It’s been a few years.) But they were always out of reach. So when I found out about BOB’s Lobster, I was estatic! Finally, I can try a lobster roll without having to travel 3 – 5 hours for. Let’s start with the lobster roll: I was a little disappointed it wasn’t like the traditional Maine lobster rolls as I was expecting. The lobster was plain but in the middle of a buttery skinny roll(almost like a thick slice of bread) under the lobster, you’ll find mustard that compliments the lobster and the roll. But then again, I’ve never had any other lobster roll so I think it was pretty good. The tuna tacos: no complaints there. I love the idea of fish in taco shells and generally love fish tacos, so their tuna tacos was different. Three mini crunchy taco shells with tuna on top. YUM! They’re generous with their sesame seeds, so make sure you don’t have one stuck in your teeth after(like I did for the longest time, it was a black sesame seed too). I’d have more if it didn’t cost £8 for 3 little tacos. Finally the last thing I tried here, was the lobster mac and cheese: It looked good, it looked very cheesy, and despite of having chucks of lobster in it, I found it a bit bland, I think that’s why they loaded a pile of fried onions on top. The tall cyclindrical container that they served it in made it very difficult to mix in the fried onions in, and the wooden spork doesn’t exactly help with the short hollow noodles unless you squash and stab them sideways. I shared this with a friend and we dropped quite a bit of it. The service is great, even met Bob himself, who gave me a foam lobster finger. They started in July and will be at Borough Market until the end of September and will be at some food fest. I’d probably come back at some point, maybe to try the lobster bisque… oh and to smile at the cute boys.

Wandering around Borough Market after a trip to a fine beer hole, we chanced across this wonderfully bright VW camper van filled with two smiling chefs and a team of happy staff. Their mission? To aid you to get delicious UK sourced Lobster into your tummy franticly fast service with plenty of alfresco seating, this blows the choppers off the Canadian crustaceans from Burger and Lobster. I’m kind of scared to admit the value is incredible as it may become too busy for me to ever eat there again once word gets out. but I’m going to take that risk. It feels to be such a bargain, for such quantity of delicious Lobster. Plus, tweet or facebook #thevaniscoming and you get an amusing foam claw for many many humorous photographic opportunities. Either Prosecco or Brooklyn Beer in a can from a surprising ice cooler provides a perfectly sharp accompaniment, but if you’re planning ahead the relationship with Bedales Wines means you could have a specific wine available when you land. I cannot recommend the Tuna Tacos or the Lobster Mac ‘nd Cheese enough! Great for sharing, so you can get more tastes and flavour involved with your face.

I’m torn between 2 and 3 stars. Service was friendly and quick. Very cool van which is parked right outside the Borough Market(which is a must do btw). The lobster rolls weren’t bad but they weren’t nearly authentic or particularly tasty for that matter. The van made pickles were delicious! The lobster mac n cheese was not good at all but I did like their use of little hollowed out noodles.

Parked up in a prime location by a number of bars and stalls in Borough Market, there’s nothing quite like rocking up to modified VW van surrounded by deckchairs to order a feast of lobster. Lobster, soft shell crab, crawfish… there are so many types of shellfish that up until recently seemed cheap and widely available in the US, but were like gold dust in London. Thankfully, the tide is turning and more and more London vendors are starting to turn to shellfish as delicious fast food rather than just unaffordable high end cuisine. First up, I had to go for the lobster roll. At £11 for one roll, it’s not exactly cheap as chips. But with a soft toasted roll that is absolutely stuffed with huge, meaty lengths of lobster, you are getting a top quality sandwich for your money. I’ve chowed down on lobster rolls from some of the most established venues in Cape Cod and New York and this stood toe to toe with them in terms of flavour. After a quick break to digest and have a cold beer from one of the many nearby bars, I went back for seconds; Lobster Mac and Cheese. Good Lord, what an absolute revelation. Beautifully cooked mac and cheese with crisp fried onions on top, peppered with generous chunks of lobster. At £7.50, it’s a little more affordable than the lobster roll and just as delicious. Also available are the options of lobster bisque or ahi tuna tacos. I hear the tacos are particularly delicious, but on my visit I was entirely unwliling to deviate from my pursuit of lobster. This would be a 5 out 5 but for it being quite a pricey option as a street food vendor. However, that’s not to say that the price does not adequately represent the quality of the food on offer. This really was delicious and I would heartily recommend it to any hungry London shellfish lovers or East Coast Americans jonesing for a taste of home.

So this Sunday I went along to the pre launch of London’s only(as far as I am aware!) lobster roll joint. Excited to sample the whole menu I did not leave disappointed! The lobster roll is obviously the signature dish and is more than expected in the construction. Months have gone into perfecting the recipes and the buttered brioche roll is light and compliments the sweet lobster meat(a good amount of lobster in the rolls too unlike most crayfish sandwiches that you get at stores) For me. the ahi tuna tacos are the star and a must have. The glorious crispy taco shells are filled with delicious tuna and a wonderful fresh and vibrant salad. The wasabi dressing is great too(and I don’t like wasabi!) Mac n cheese is al dente, creamy and rich with lobster pieces and the pickles are great(even though the liquor that they are stored in looks like a witches pot!) Open every evening Tuesday to Saturday this summer I am sure the queues around Borough market will be for BOB’s Lobster. Get yourself down there
