The building and décor are lovely, really clean and vibrant. That was definitely one of my favourite things about the restaurant. Staff were also very pleasant and helpful.
However, for the price I paid I’d have hoped to get a bit more food, and I was rather disappointed with the portion size. The food was good, but I’d have expected a bit more of it. Definitely not somewhere to go if you’re very hungry.

We went on a Saturday afternoon around 3pm on 5th May 2012. The food was nice, but the two waiters were unprofessional. They were too relaxed with us, and even started playing with a basketball in the restaurant while we were eating. The other thing was that they kept going round the nearby tables to us and spraying antibacterial spray on them. They kept repeating the same tables as well! It was very irritating and it was not nice eating with them spraying all around us. They also were not cleaning the place well. They just wiped all the food off the tables onto the floor and did not sweep it up. There was food all over the floor where I was sitting and used napkins on the floor around the restaurant. The tables were not cleaned properly either. They just cleaned the middles of the tables and the side areas were sticky and covered with food. My chair was also covered with food from the previous customers. It is a shame because it could have been a nice place.

This branch of Ask, situated on the junction at Whetstone, it easy to find, and located in an attractive black and white beamed building which might have once been a pub. Inside, the place has been completely refurbished, and is quite trendy and cosy (in line I think with most Ask restaurants).
The service has always been prompt, and the food tasty and fresh. Since Ask are a chain, and the menu does not seem to change, you could get bored visiting the restaurants too often, but there is a wide enough choice to suit most tastes. Unfortunately though, they seem to have dropped the crab cakes for cod fish cakes, which seems like an odd choice given the recent publicity surrounding cod fishing and fish stocks (also, I really liked the crab cakes!).
So, it’s good food, quick service, and a predictable menu, so rather handy for meeting people when you need to make a quick and non-​controversial choice.

If you want to eat Italian out, one of the best chains is Ask. This particular Ask, like all of the other Ask’s I have been to, didn’t disappoint.
For starters, there is a wide selection ranging from salads, for a healthier option, to breads. I tried the garlic bread and mushroom salad. Both were excellent.
Then for mains, there are the usual pizzas and pastas. I had the Spaghetti al Pomodoro and asked them to add extra chillies for extra spice. This dish tasted really fresh and had the right balance of spicyness.
The service was good.
It is slightly on the expensive side, but for Italian food £6-£9 is the average price for a plate of pasta.
This sort of place is also spacious and would be ideal for parties and business lunches.
