My favourite pub in the neighbourhood! Gorgeous little pub, tucked away between ravenscourt park and Hammersmith. Beautiful dark wood interior with fresh flowers, and a fireplace. You can eat at any of the tables but there is a separate area to reserve tables in the dining room. There is also a small outside area with about 5 tables, which is my favourite area but just get there early because they go quickly! Delicious, I mean delicious food, more upmarket than regular pubs and the Sunday Roast… oh the Sunday roast. The wine selection is on point, and the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. You really cannot go wrong.

The Angelsea Arms is an adorable, cosy and quintessentially British pub located at the end of a beautiful street in between Hammersmith and Shepherds Bush. The street is lined with rainbow colored houses similar to those in Notting Hill, making the walk to the pub bright and cheery. The food is amazing and the staff are very friendly. I had an amazing pumpkin risotto which was phenomenal. It was perfectly creamy, and cheesy and I had to stop myself from licking the plate clean. It is definitely a hidden gem in West London.

This place provides one of the best service in London, the food was good. I enjoy dinning in the bar area and chat with the bar guys. Personally I like thier Sunday lunch supply and the wine selection.

We went here for our company Christmas lunch and what a good find this was. I work in Shepherd’s Bush so it’s hard to find something nice around, but this gastropub is great! There’s a warm fireplace and beautiful old wooden décor, and the staff were all so lovely. We had to move tables because more people came than my original booking and they were super nice about it, even though we knew how inconvenient it was for them. For a big table we ordered two racks of lamb to share and our own appetiser. I got the ragu and it was delicious. The lamb was so soft, the meat fell off the bone immediately. We actually ordered too much so I doggie-bagged what was left and they did it with no objections(which some places do). At the end they gave me a few drink vouchers to come back, which I would love to! Beware of the white cat she looks sweet but scratches pretty hard.

The Anglesea is back!!! Where’s it been I hear you ask? Well maybe you aren’t asking but the Brackenbury Village locals have been up in arms since it closed suddenly, this absolute stalwart, one of the original London Gastro pubs. Well, it went, briefly, and the rumours were rife. They were renovating, then they were bankrupt, then they were being had up for trying to assassinate the queen. All this chatter, and then suddenly one day it’s back open again. Loads of happy ya ya’s drinking outside and lots of nice smells coming from within. We stopped by for a drink just to check out whether it was still cut from the same cloth. Indeed it was. Absolutely nothing changed inside. Same old creaky sofas and aged wood and nice nuts and beer. And the menu looked the same too. Lots of good if slightly more testing gastro pub fare. We vowed to return to eat which we did last week and had the usual fab meal. I had a snail and ham starter cos i knew the missus wouldn’t want to get her grubby mitts on that. It was smartly made. Great flavours. The missus had deep fried balls of fish. I think salt cod. Accompanied with a good mayonnaise which I think had squid ink. It was black and unctuous and looked very striking. We could have done with a bit more of that. Both our mains were very tasty. Lemon sole which had been hard fried so that the skin had a crispy chewy texture which meant we just had to have a go a those little bones on the edge of the fish. My cod was similarly crispy skinned but with succulent flesh. The vegetable accompaniment provided a wonderful sharp balance although I can’t remember the details. They weren’t on the plate long enough to register. Part of the joy of eating here is that the kitchen is in full view of the diners who sit in a separate part of the pub to the casual drinkers. It’s not a big pub so you can sit there and watch as they cook and plate up and it’s great to see. It makes for a buzzy atmosphere and it’s lots of fun. And the service is good. Efficient and friendly even though it’s usually well busy. The Anglesea is a cut above the usual ‘gastro’ fare. Always a few challenging things on the menu, a fair bit of game when available. And the accompaniments are well thought out. For this you pay a more than usual. Mains range from about £12 to £22, and if squid ink mayo and the like doesn’t float your boat then you should probably walk further up the road to Stonemasons or the Andover which both do great food that’s slightly less foodie. But eating in this lovely pub in the charming Wingate Rd is a treat and I thoroughly recommend it. A true Gastropub experience. We can all rest in peace now. The Brackenbury Villagers have their favourite pub back, the rumour mill has stopped spinning and everyone’s a winner.

Love this place. It should be more crowded but luckily it’s not. I’m writing this as a restaurant review, but the bar is very nice, though I wish they had a decent wheat beer on tap. This pub has some of the best food I’ve had in a London pub. Each time I’ve eaten here I’ve been very pleased with the meal. Last night we both had the hangar steak, served with fries and runner beans. The steak was superb, the fries were crispy and delicious, and even the runner beans didn’t disappoint. For £16 I got a much better meal than I usually get in a gastro pub. If the Anglesea Arms were in central London it would be packed every night. I often dine at the Ladbroke Arms in Notting Hill. The staff are very nice and it’s well located. But the menu is frustrating, often leaving it difficult to make a decision. Though the reason is the lack of good choices rather than too many. Prices at the Ladbroke Arms are higher than any pub I’ve eaten in. Just as I was getting despondent about the high price, mediocre quality of so called«gastro» pub food, I discovered the Anglesea Arms. Faith restored! I’ve eaten here a number of times(different dish each time) and each time I was pleasantly surprised with how good the meal was. Service is very good as well. I prefer sitting in the bar area to the dining room in the back since it’s open with space between the table and is better for people watching. There’s outdoor seating out front as well. Now if they’d only get a good wheat beer or two on tap, I’d move to Wingate Road to be nearer!

Always have a good meal at this pub no matter what time of year. Their Sunday Lunch is also very good. Wine selection impressive for a small pub

I haven’t tried the food here, so the gastro pub label really doesn’t make sense to me. I love this place, it’s homely, worn in and wonderful. The bar staff are always friendly and they have a great selection of drinks. With it’s own resident cat(be careful about stroking it, it’s not always friendly so you may get a scratch). A really relaxed pub which is a firm local for me.

Tried this place for dinner last night and have to say I rate it. Despite the somewhat tired exterior the inside was very warm, cosy and welcoming and had a real village pub feel. Despite the feel, it is however, def. more restaurant than pub, not that this is a bad thing if that’s what you go there for. Barnsley Chop my wife had was top notch, I had fish(gurnard) and although it was simply done it was full of flavour. Chocolate dessert was amazing, the wife didn’t speak for 5 minutes enjoying each mouthful, which was an added bonus! ;) The beer was well kept(Otter and Caledonian sampled) and the wine list reasonably priced and enough choice to keep you interested. They also do small glass, large glass, carafe or bottle of everything on the list, which i always think is nice to see. At the end of the night we left saying that we were glad we’d found the Anglesea and we’ll be back. So i look forward to my next visit.

This gastropub used to be a fantastic local: you couldn’t book, and everyone in the neighbourhood squashed in to drink wine before eating a gastronomic treat. Now after a Michelin guide mention and the inevitable gentrification of the ‘hood, it’s become just another fancy restaurant that serves pub beer. It’s a pity that the fine line between«gastro» and«pub» seems to be so hard to follow.

Apparently it’s glory days were a few years ago as one of the first gastropub in West London. From the dinner I had a few nights ago, the new chef is doing a pretty good job at restoring its standing. I had the Colchester oysters, fresh and served with shallots vinegar, and the duck breast cooked to perfection with beetroot, artichokes and mash. Great fare for maybe a little too big a price. Shame the outside space closes at 10pm sharp.

The Anglesea Arms serves some of the best food in London. Other than the room being really hot and the service a little bit spotty, we had a great evening. I started with a salad of roasted fennel and grilled squid. I then had a vegetable tart, followed by a chocolate cake for dessert. Each bite was outstanding, filled with flavor, delicious! All my friends said each of their dishes were outstanding as well. The location is on a quiet street and even if it takes you awhile to get there, it’s worth the journey.

The Anglsea has been here for a number of years now but having a change of chef recently has really made an interesting difference. Pigs trotters, partridge, razor clams to name just a few welcome changes to what was always a good menu. A fine selection of wines by the glass and bottle and moreso a good selection of ales. Stroll around Ravenscourt Park after in the spring sun makes for a perfect Sunday. Always popular the only negative would be not getting a seat straight away.

We came here on a Tuesday night, and the dining area was almost full, save for one table. Unfortunately they obviously tried to get as many tables in as possible, as it was really cramped, even though I am a small girl! The menu reads well; British, and in season. I found it a touch overpriced for the portion sizes though. All in all, a nice enough meal, but nothing special. I much prefer the Anchor & Hope in Southwark for a decent gasto pub meal.

Good gastro in the semi affluent area of Brackenbury Village that attracts a young and trendy crowd as well as a few other the older set who are still trying. Very much a pub of two halves with a restaurant area that serves very good if not quite expensive food and then the other half which is pub with a goodish space outside with seating which is also heated. It is quite remote in terms of getting there, so you would need to go and find it but I think that it is definitely worth the walk /taxi to find this place as you would have an enjoyable visit. One of the better pubs in the area frequented by a nice crowd.

While this pub is always teeming with a homogeneous crowd(annoying in both the homogeneity and the crowdedness), it sits on an atmospheric little corner and offers pleasant outside tables. And on a cold day, if you can manage to squeeze inside, the cosy drinking area is a great spot to warm your bones(or by the fire in the dining«room»). Foodwise, I’ve only tried their packets of crisps as I haven’t had the patience to wait out the crowds.

A nice and elegant hidden gastropub/restaurant just off the Goldhawk Road. The décor is rustic(wood everywhere) but the food is defiantly modern(if expensive — £18 for a Sunday roast, anyone?) with some seafood touches. Oysters anyone?

The Anglesea Arms is a West London institution. It’s got a cozy fire in winter and outdoor seating in summer. The menu is quite gastro, expect a bit of game on the menu. It doesn’t have standard pub grub like bangers and mash for instance which I think is a good thing. The food takes a while so perhaps don’t choose this place for a speedy lunch. There’s a good wine list, and unlike the previous reviewer I’ve always found in the 6 years I have been going to this pub, the staff are fine, you just need to be friendly.

Located smack in the middle of a relatively posh West London residential area, this pub offers a good selection of upmarket beers, drink, and especially food. The most alluring thing about this pub is the food. I have often passed in front of the pub and inhaled the most wonderful aromas that seep through the kitchen windows. I must admit that I have sometimes even lingered outside the window for a couple of seconds more than I should have as I walked by. I am salivating just at the thought of these smells. Having had a three course meal dinner here, I can also tell you that the food does not disappoint. It is delicious. The Anglesea Arms is divided into a pub area, an outdoor patio with heaters and seating, and a dining room/restaurant area. The pub is decorated with dark mahogany wood panels, some leather sofas and ornate mirrors. The crowd is typical of the neighbourhood: upper middle class gents who often nibble on shrimps served in pint glasses. This pub is a bit pricey and you will have to dig into your pockets a little for the restaurant, but it is definitely worth the experience.
