Very good food, the crab with avocado, prawn saffron risotto, rabbit ravioli and lamb chops were great. The service was really slow. It’s so slow that it ruined our dinner. And it’s enough not to make me come again.

We liked the restaurant. However, one thing that struck me as unprofessional and concerning is that the restaurant had run out of a few basic dishes. Our dinner was at 7:30 pm, so it’s not like we had arrived for a late dinner. We wanted to order orecchiette with pesto. They ran out of Pesto? That’s like saying an Italian restaurant ran out of garlic. Pesto is one of the cheapest and easiest sauces to make. How is that possible. They also ran out of a few other dishes. So, either the restaurant is not doing well financially, or is not well-managed.

This is a very good spot for Italian in London. To kick things off they bring you a huge basket of breads which are terrific but pace yourself since you will want to save room. If you do give in, the foccacia is my recommendation. We started with the warm salads of yellow bean. I went with the beef tartare. This was excellent. Not too big a portion but very tasty. The mustard on the side is a great touch. For mains, two of us went sea bass and the third had entrecôte. All the plates were clean when they were sent back so suffice it to say we enjoyed it. The sea bass was very nice with the monk’s beard which I discovered was fresh herbs. To accompany all this we went with a bottle of the Brunello di Montalcino«Pieve Santa Restiutta» D.o.c.g 2007. This was excellent if on the younger side. We did save room for dessert and I would really recommend the banana cake with coconut ice cream. Just amazing if you like tropical flavors with a hint of chocolate(in streaks along the plate). I tried the Malvasia Soleste while my colleagues had the Quinta da Romaneira 2005 with theirs. All around, we enjoyed both dessert and the beverage pairings.

Set menus at 35÷39÷46 for 2/¾ courses. Sweet spot in value is three courses. If you navigate around the(rather too many) £5 supplements you get an excellent value meal right in the centre of Mayfair. By far the highlight was the incredibly generous meat and cheese antipasti plate they bring you free of charge. Three cheeses including an excellent pecorino, freshly baked breads and beautiful freshly sliced parma ham filled us up right from the get-go. I could have asked for the bill there and then and been happy. This was followed by an amuse bouche and then you can start your ordered 4 courses. I started with an very good clam risotto slightly too salty(and I have a salty palate), this was followed by loin of lamb with black olive crust and black chard. Excellent but again salty. I had absolutely no room for dessert and had to trade a trip home on the 38 for a taxi I was so bloated. Service was excellent with a formidable maitre d choreographing operations beautifully. I’m looking forward to going back with an empty stomach or a stool at the bar where I can sip at nice wines while I nibble some freshly sliced parma ham.

Nice and really good food. However, VERY slow service. A bit unhappy about that for the price paid. Nice staff though and elegant décor.

Pros: Very good food. Very good design and ambience. Cons: Bathroom was very dirty for an upscale restaurant in Mayfair. The service was very slow… I visited Alloro on Valentine’s day. I didn’t try their special menu for Valentine’s but thought that their food from the regular menu was very good(my gf didn’t approve of the Valentine’s day dessert). I liked the ambience and the general atmosphere of the well designed room. Only thing lacking was that the service was very slow. The couple next to us arrived after us by at least 15 minutes and was served before us. The full dinner(4 courses) took over 2 hours… which I thought was a bit excessive. Also, they managed to lose our coats momentarily and some of the staff was a bit cold(though this was balanced out by other staff that was very kind). Also, the bathroom was… gross. I thought of giving 4 stars but I frankly expected more for the bill I was paying.

Slick, well executed Italian food in a well-designed room. Coming here on an expense account works best. Something to consider for a special occasion, although for the money there are more intimate/personal places to go for that. Outside of business lunches and dinners, for which it’s excellent, it would serve well for an older(35+) group of friends looking for a quiet but reliable place to go with a few couples. Very convenient if you work in or around Berkeley Square.

Alloro is a dark atmospheric restaurant, with a formal modern touch to the décor. It’s an archetipal west end power lunchtype place, with pleasant bar area for those waiting to be seated. The food is very good, quite expensive though and the service is excellent. It is in Mayfair so great location too!

on the whole I think food in London is pretty awful. Chains everywhere and wherever you go its Bloody Pizza Express and unimaginative food. However, i think the food at Alloro is just stunning. Especially the pasta and the chianti is to die for. I have eaten everywhere from Gordon Ramsay and the Ritz to Fish n Chips. I would really recommend it.

Went for a ‘casual business lunch’, atmosphere is nice, clientele ranges from business men to an Italian family celebrating an 18th birthday. Food was great, had the entrecôte on crushed potatoes, but I have to say that my 6 slices of ‘medium’ entrecôte had at least 2 slices which were overdone and full of fatty tissue. Another person on the table had a wheat intolerance and was told she should have the dish without the sauce. This would have been fine but the beef and potatoes without the sauce were very dry. I was disappointed that there were no suggestions from the waiting staff to serve something else with the dish, like a gravy without the flower. Service was perfect otherwise with waiters remembering who orders which dish and regularly refilling water without making you feel you are being rushed through a lunch. Would definitely go back(but would ask for my beef to be done medium all the way!)

I was really disappointed by this place. Maybe it was because I was part of a large party(10), but the food was average for the price — which was a shocking-end-of-the-evening-how-much? £95 per head!!! I had stuffed calimari, which was OK but the the calimari were small and on not much more than a bed of simply chopped tomatoes. My main was 3 meagre lamb chops, which were tepid. the accompanying vegetables were soggy and oily. The dessert(tiramisu) was the only saving grace. Thank god I didn’t go for the truffle supplement of £40!!! Yes, we had a drink to start, and a few bottles of averagely priced wine, but i have no idea where £95 went. Over priced, under-delivered.

This Italian has fantastic food, which, I must say, is reflected in the price. Nonetheless, worth it if you’re looking for somewhere smart and good. In fact, there’s a special offer on at the moment: £7.50 for two meals, mon and tues from 5 to 10pm — bargain! Try the tagliatelle with truffle when it’s season(autumn time).
