All About The Girl

Well, contrary to what is stated above, this is mainly a beauty salon. Would I go again? No, I would not. If you think that because this has a celebrity name (Tana Ramsay) against it, it’s going to be something special, luxurious think again. The salon itself is average at best: it’s small (on the point of dingy), with no bells and whistles at all (far from it). The rest faired no better; from beginning to end, it was rush, rush, rush, and there was absolutely no care/​attention/​sublety/​personal attention. First up — waxing. It became apparent that my booking had been mucked up in two ways, one being remedied the other not (the therapist couldn’t have cared less). The treatment room was tiny; this also meant that the therapist couldn’t get around the bed which impeded the execution of my treatment considerably. She also made me nervous and anxious, because she was rushing so much. Plus, it was the most painful waxing session of my life; and even the next day, my legs were still pink and sensitive to the touch (a first for me). Plus patches of hair had been left all over my legs. Also, the therapist just couldn’t get to grips with pulling hot wax off quickly in a swift move which resulted in really considerable extended discomfort. I’ve never known a therapist be so cack-​handed when it comes to removing hot wax. Next a pedicure. I was amazed that the foot treatments are carried out in a communal area. I had mine with someone on my right elbow having their hair done (with hair all over the floor where I was sitting), and a tower of foot spas piled up in the chair next to me on my left elbow. Not pleasant and certainly not relaxing. I felt like I was in the storage cupboard. I had been shoved into this random corner, in a hairdressing chair, because I was told that another therapist was going to do a pedicure in the slightly more appropriate foot treatment chair in the opposite corner. That never happened I suspect because it had already been cleaned, ahead of closing time. Nice. The pedicure could not have been more rushed and perfunctory. I felt like I was a hinderance to the salon closing early, that should be dispensed with as quickly as possible. Even though there was still a good 25 minutes until closing time (I checked my watch, because given the rushing I thought we must have been past closing time), I (being the last remaining customer) was then shoved from the communal area to the reception to have my foot treatment completed. Why? So they could clean. I was left on my own there, when actually I wanted to pay and get the hell out. One of the therapists reappeared, and started tidying around me. Then my therapist forgot to complete my treatment, and I had to remind her. Had I not indicated I wanted to pay, I think they could have forgotten to ask since they had all obviously switched off. ‘Are you still here?’ seemed to be the attitude. My exit summarised proceedings as I passed another therapist on the way out, I looked at her ready for a verbal exchange; but she couldn’t even be bothered to open her mouth to muster a thank you/​bye as she pushed the door shut behind me.
