Didn’t want to wait for the burger and lobster place and saw this on Unilocal.Very happy with my purchase as we say in my family, the food was really good, the hummus was the smoothest i have ever eaten. The lamb skewr was tender and very flavorful. The falafel was yummy. We eat according to location, if we are in the area again, this is on the top of our list. you will enjoy the food

Excellent mezzes(appetizers). I had the hummus and mutabbal(baba ganoush) and they were both delicious. The pita bread is warmed up and puffy, just the way you want to have it! The kabob combination I ordered(chicken, lamb, ground lamb) was above average but nothing to brag about. The service was very pleasant but a little on the slow side. I would go back if I lived locally.

A long-standing restaurant of Shepherd’s Market, Al-Sultan turns out well-executed, generous-proportioned Lebanese classics. I think the strengths of the menu are the mezze — we had some very nicely fried Kibbeh(the skin was very crisp), some hot sambousek, which was nice and airy inside and the standard fafafel and hummus. The bread was light, fluffy and excellent. The grills were so-so. The minced lamb was juicy but not that flavorful and the chicken was a bit rubbery. All in all, a very solid place, but nothing spectacular.

Food very good although small in quantity. Service however atrocious… I shall not be going back

I’m a big fan of Lebanese cuisine and have tried at least 10 or so different restaurants in Central London. However, I always come back to Al Sultan and think it’s consistently the best. It also seems to be v popular with Middle Eastern clients, which I guess is a good sign. The menu is broad and contains all the usual options. Food is to a very high standard — fresh and tasty. Service has definitely improved and is usually warm and efficient. Not cheap compared to Edgware Road but by Mayfair standards it isn’t bad value.

I had a very nice dinner here the other night. We were warmly welcome to the largely empty restaurant on a cold, snowy Wednesday evening. As far as I tell, they offer a rich, authentic Lebanese menu. We started with warak inab(stuffed grape leaves), hommos(aka hummus), sambousek(a small meat-stuffed pastry) and it was all very good. We then had the meshwi mshakkal(mixed grill) and the kafta halabiyeh(minced lamb skewers) which we yummy as well. On the wine, they didn’t seem to take me seriously when I ordered one of my favorite wines, the Château Musar. Yes, it’s become pricey over the years, but they brought out a bottle of off-wine-list Cuvée Musar(one of Musar’s very good second wines) which I sent back and asked for the real thing. When we got it, was a wonderful bottle of the 1997. Yum. The service was very nice throughout the meal. I’d come here again anytime.

Great food, great location, good service. An excellent Lebanese restaurant in the popular Sheppard Market area. You have to try the smoked aubergine dip, the walnut chili dish and the lentil/bread dish. The appetizers were so good we never got to the mains. People watching from the outdoor seating is also great!

Arab /Persian /Lebanese What i really enjoy about restuarants like this is you get the whole culture of the place. the waiters were friendly, too friendly! they advise you on what to get because the food on the menu is unaccessible to people outside of that culture! They gave us loads of time to decide, you could ring to book tables in advance. They were really pleasant to us and the food(lots of different types of meat!) comes in big portions. Its a bit pricey but the bill comes in such a wonderful wooden box — its traditional. They also gave us complementary lebanese tea, which was really nice.
