I’m not a fan of clubs(you’ll notice this by the number of ‘duff duff duff’s I put in reviews about them) but this place I feel is a little bit special. For one it’s not a super club like The End, it’s next door clubbing neighbour and secondly, on a weekend you actually get a fun relaxed mature crowd. The place is beautiful for one, long plush velvet curtains hanging, artwork painted on the bare walls and comfy sofas to rest on when you’re tired of dancing. The staff and really ‘on it’ so you never have to wait long, and their cocktails are fantastic. My only winge about this place will be the mid-week ‘knobber johns’(or suited wankers as some of you may call them) and the high prices. Last time I went here is was a spur of the moment decision, me and a girl friend need cheering up and indeed we were here. We danced the ight away! Great for a party I’d say but bring your cheque book.

AKA has a legendary status in my social circles. I haven’t been for a while and for my health it is probably wise I stay away. I am friends with the old bar manager and I was close with many of the bartenders. This led to many, many nights of obscene drunken debauchery. The setting is a darkened club with an industrial feel, set on two levels with a bar on each. The main dance floor is on the ground floor. The first floor has a balcony and is a great spot for friend spotting. The bartenders are well trained and make excellent drinks. The spirit selection is great too. The music tends to be electro house. The ethos in AKA is to drink and party till you drop. Most nights I would end up in the attached End club partying to the early hours. If you want to party and drink to your hearts content in bohemian, frenetic surroundings AKA is the place to be.

Because of its affiliation with nightclub The End, AKA attracts a varied crowd of revellers. During the week it’s mainly packed with suits and city boys but the weekend reveals its darker side as London’s club-goers descend on this excellent venue. The interior has a crisp industrial feel to it that’s at once swanky and grimy. The drinks list is one of the most extensive I have come across though be prepared to pay West End prices. Make sure you order a cocktail at some point though, the staff really know what they’re doing. The music is fairly eclectic, depending on the evening you’ll hear some electro, some classics, and some heavier beats but essentially it’s never dissapointing. Most people have probably been here at least once by now but if not then I’d recommend giving it a try.

Since 1998AKA is a spacious split-level bar based in Holborn. It’s large and airy and the music always nice. During the week end the entrance is free but of course it ‘s depend from the night… There is impressive collection of drinks, spirits and cocktails and here is possible to ask for a Negroni,. quite unusual here in London, i will say the drinks are quite expensive so bear that in mind. There is also a big space so you can shake a leg or two on. Nice staff, freindly atmosphere, generally just a nice venue to visit!
