African Volcano

Fantastic regular vendor at the Maltby Street market; consistently has a queue. The staff is super friendly and the offerings are all mouth-​watering and hand-​stickying. If oyu’re feeling extra gluttonous, you can’t go wrong with the Dirty Secret (not a well-​kept secret!) which is a burger, topped with gherkins, their homemade peri-​peri and (wait for it…) pulled pork. You probably shouldn’t have another meal for at least 8 hrs after this behemoth. No way you’re going to eat this without utensils!
For a «lighter» option, their peri-​peri chicken sandwich (I forget the name) is tasty and has a slight chance of you being able to eat it without the aid of a knife and fork.
There’s a reason why they’re there every week at the market, while other vendors are rotated in and out; this team puts out consistently amazing food!

We just loved this shop. We stopped at this shop while eating and drinking our way through the Maltby St Market on a Sunday. We got the traditional Dirty Streaker which was amazing. The sauce was spicy but not over bearing, the bun was dipped in the juices and was wet but till warmed. The bacon was divine. It really was a great burger.
Whats even better? The chef was hilarious, kind and funny. He made jokes with the crowd, gave recommendations and made you feel taken care of.
