Adobo

I think my experience here was tainted somewhat by the time I dropped in, i.e. late dinner rather than lunch hour, especially considering the shining reviews below. They say they’re open until 8.30, but they looked already like they were clearing away when I dropped in at around 7.
The burrito was meh, having experienced Dublin’s burrito boom first hand maybe I’m spoilt, but it was really lacking in individuality, flavour and gusto. I tried the brown rice and both kinds of beans, skipped the veg as it looked more like veg soup ugh (soggy, had lost it’s colour and was swimming in juice) and tried the corn salsa as at least it looked fresh, cheese, sour cream and would have had guac if they had had any left, which they didn’t, giving a half apologetic shrug.
How hard is it to make more guacamole when you run out? I think they were just not that bothered as they weren’t busy.
I was starving, just off a plane, and highly disappointed. Adobo, I won’t be back.

Olé! Great news that London (a little late to the game) is increasingly perfecting the burrito scene, and diversifying its options.
Adobo is a solid bet. I’ve never had the burrito, just the salad box. Which is basically all the gear of a burrito without the tortilla. It’s delicious, and here’s what I think sets Adobo apart:
— corn salsa; it’s perfect, and fresh, and little juicy spurts of sweet corn. Atop some spicy offerings it’s mighty fine
— the beef is GOOD. Like, note those caps: it’s GOOD. It’s smokey and peppery and super-​tender and delicious. I love that they don’t skimp on the portion, either
— I like that they are a little flexible; I didn’t want beans (they have 2 on offer) so I got 2x the fajita veggies. NO HAY PROBLEMA!
As with many spots, the guacamole is an extra charge. Get it; it’s good stuff.
Unilocal note: it is busy during lunch (con) but also most delicious during lunch (pro) because there’s such quick turnover of things. I once went late in the afternoon (not lunch, not yet dinner) and the meat was a little dried out, and the salad could have used refreshing.

Enjoyed a nice takeaway pork burrito from here for lunch. The queue was quick and the burrito was filling.

This spot just opened near my office, and definitely pleased to say the least. The ingredients always taste super fresh, they’re fast, professional and efficient, and I think it’s reasonably healthy.
As someone who doesn’t always choose to dabble in meat, I also like the veggie options. They’re guacamole is fairly decent, the peppers and onions are good, the black beans are also equally good, and love the salsa choices. When I do dabble in meat, the chicken tinga is pretty choice

Pretty decent, if slightly spendy, burrito. It’s no Daddy Donkey, but it has its own specialness. Brown rice, for one. A bit on the spendy side, but worth a look.

Adobo is probably my favourite burrito in London, besides Daddy Donkey (but always open to suggestions, and still need to try Chilango!), and yet I’ve only been here twice! Service was quick even during lunch time which makes for a happy Nicole. They have the option of small or regular sized burritos, which is great, and the smaller ones are only a fiver so it won’t break the bank.
I’ve had the chicken tinga with chorizo and guacamole and was in burrito heaven. It’s rare to find a burrito place where you can add chorizo to your burrito but it should be done more often — sure it might cost 80p extra but that 80p equates to some beautiful burrito flavours; it’s not to be missed.
I really like that on their boards behind the staff are suggestions for healthier burritos, for example one concoction which is really low in calories and another one which is filled with protein. I probably wouldn’t go for them since I like to make my own but it’s a nice addition!
And now that Unilocalers have helpfully tipped me off to the 10% discount for students, guess who’s going here ALL THE TIME from now on? :D

Adobo, if only your taste was more reliable from day to day than I would never stray.
My first experience at Adobo was glorious. A fat, thick dripping burrito with inferno salsa so spicy that I had to blow my nose three times after finishing. I swore that you were better than Chipotle.
But just two days later, you showed a different side. You were colder (literally, it wasn’t as temperature warm), less flavorful, just off. I realized your rice lacked flavor (unlike Chipotle’s killer lime-​cilantro rice).
Nevertheless, I will still frequent you because Holborn is a sad place for a hungry person at lunch time who relishes Mexican. And still, I will give you four stars because I must be lax in London. London has its own standards because I know I won’t find Mexican here as good as in LA. Also, 10% student discount, woot woot!
Bottom line: Chipotle over Adobo.

Great place for a quick burrito. In my opinion better than chilango, and cheaper

One of a number of burrito places around the Holborn area at the moment good fresh ingredients and fast services. No where near as good as the Daddy Donkey burritos on Leather Lane though.

Probably London’s best burrito value — with a small-​sized chicken burrito at under 5 pounds, and a regular-​sized, foil-​wrapped delight at just under 6 pounds. Yes, Chipotle, it is possible to sell burritos in London for less than 6 pounds.
Friendly staff, fast-​moving line, reasonable portions and a flavor that — I think — actually beats Chilango.
There is a 10 percent student discount, which I wish I had known about before ordering. Oh well, I’ll save some pennies on my next trip!

The burritos here are healthy, filling, and decently priced for its location right in central London. The ingredients are good, not as heavy as burritos in California, which also means that the flavours are not as full too. Nevertheless, I appreciate this quick-​serve restaurant for putting in a good effort. The servers are friendly and can help guide you through your selection of ingredients. There is some seats inside, but I can imagine it gets full quite quickly during the lunch rush.
There is a 10% student discount; make sure you ask for it if you’re a student! And they have a special after 5pm I believe, any burrito for £5.

This is hands down the best burrito I have ever eaten in London. No more crappy soggy burritos with tasteless salsas & limp lettuce leaves & tiny drop of guacamole.

Best burrito in London. After years of disappointment at the inability of London burrito joints to create a good tasty spicy burrito, I’ve finally found deliciousness wrapped in a tortilla and served with finger licking guacamole and fresh salsa.

One of the many burrito restaurants in the High Holborn area, Adobo is the best I’ve tried so far. Top quality ingredients, rapid service and truly excellent taste. It’s also the priciest of the local options, at over £8 for a shredded beef burrito with guacamole and a drink! Definitely a special occasion option rather than everyday. The burritos are not quite as large as some of the offerings from local competition, but frankly are more than adequate. After eating here, you’ll feel satisfied, perhaps even ‘full’, but not bloated by stodge. This is simple, clean food at its very best.
The restaurant operate a loyalty scheme, with a free burrito after buying eight.

What’s even better than a new burrito place opening up in London? Well, not much really. Adobo at Holborn is a brand new place, independent of the other burrito shop clusters (because «chain» has to wrong connotations, I think) we know and love, and it’s this independence that gives them a chance to do things their own way. And it’s definitely a good way.
The burritos are generously portioned, well-​packed, and incredibly tasty — the barbacoa was exciting and flavoursome, and the carnitas was an excellent example of how to cook this meat (more delicate but not bland). I tried the meatball burrito one visit, which wasn’t to my taste but was an interesting diversion.
To drink along with the softdrinks & juices you can also choose Mexican filter coffee from Union Coffee Roasters — a cheeky brew with a pleasant citrussy kick, and one which has been deliberately sought out by the restaurant’s friendly owner, Mark. It’s also worth mentioning that he listens to his customers, and in the few times I’ve visited Adobo since they opened it’s gotten better and better.
Priced just on the cheap side of «competitively», Adobo makes for an excellent quality and great value burrito experience, and one which I’m happy to go back to again and again.

This fairly new food line service gives great styles and choice of burritos! I highly recommend the regular shredded beef burrito, with black beans, White rice, guacamole, sour cream and cheese! I’m getting hungry just describing it! Ha ha!
The line moves quick, the staff are friendly and there is a brilliant loyalty card scheme. I personally have to go at least once a week! There are so many different combinations and you just get the intense urge to try them all; well I do!
A small burrito will set you back £4.80 and a large £5.80. Guacamole is 70p extra. Snacks and drinks are also available at the checkout counter.
Once you go Adobo there is no trying not to go go!

After being told by my colleagues to grab a burrito from Adobo and having had a few from in the surrounding area, I must say this one was up there if not one of the best. The shop and service is very organised and operates on a Subway style make your own burrito/​fajita scheme. Resonably priced and the regular size is plenty. See you next week amigos!

It’s hard to describe how good these burritos are, but compared to others that I’ve had in London they blow the competition out of the water. Mark (front of house, co-​owner) is a really smiley and cheerful guy — they all clearly believe in the food they are making, which I know sounds cliched, but it’s true, and you can see it.
The food its self is awesome, my favourite being pork, but the beef is stunning too. The big burrito is enough to make you full right the way through till supper, and like the above people have said, the guacamole is outstanding.
IF you’re stuck for what to do for lunch, and haven’t tried this place then it comes highly recommended.
UPDATE *
Headed down to Adobo again the other day (got that burrito feeling) and the queue was spilling out to the edge of the pavement. (I think the secret is out) — but get this for awesome customer service: Mark was handing out little pots of guacamole and tortillas to stave the hunger while people waited.
Properly blown away by that gesture. The people queuing were pretty pleased with it too!

I work nearby and popped in to check out the new kid on the block. I’m a big fan of the local burrito bar (think Chilango, Benito’s Hat, etc.) so Adobo was definitely a welcome addition! The service was quick, friendly and efficient in the middle of the lunch hour, possibly because it’s still not widely known yet. Burritos are decently priced compared to competitors (£5.80 for a regular but an additional 70p for guac), and they also offer a small burrito option for £4.80! Not much room in terms of seating (if you’re comparing it to, say, Chipotle) as it seems like more of a takeaway joint. All in all a good place to stop by for a quick bite if you’re in the area!

I went to Adobo when they first opened and intially gave them a 4 star rating, and offered them some feedback as someone who eats a lot of burritos at almost all the local burrito places. I am pleased to report that their rating is now 5 stars :) The meat is well prepared and very tasty (marinated for 12 hours apparently). The veg is fresh, as is the whole experience. The guacamole is probably the best in London and the hot habanero sauce is very good (I was prompted to try it after reading another review)! Mark (the owner on-​site) is as friendly as ever, and still just as receptive to feedback, so pop in and try one! You won’t be disappointed :) The closest competition is probably Chipotle, Chilango and Daddy Donkey. Chipotle is more expensive and I’d say Adobo is on a par with Chilango but Adobo’s guacamole and much shorter queues give them the upper hand. They are loads better than Daddy Donkey in pretty much every respect. :D Oh yeah, they also do small burritos that are cheaper than the regular size ones great if you want to work on your portion control but still eat tasty food. And they have this special offer that I plan on taking advantage of more often any burrito is £4 after about 5pm, making them by far the best value if you go at that time! I now find it very difficult to go past Adobo and not have a delicious burrito!
