As with most Tattoo and piercing studios in Camden, they are must better inside than they look from the inside. Hanging on the walls and on tables are tattoo portfoilios that contain some mesmerising works done by the tattooists. Also, they offer a wide range of piercings, from ears to genitals. A.S.K. is averagely priced based on other tattoo parlour in Camden. If it is your first time being tattooed/pierced, I wouldn’t recommend coming here, customer service isn’t all that pleasant and the staff aren’t very reassuring or supportive. All in all, you’ll get your monies worth, and as usual, think long and hard before getting a tattoo.

I had my first tattoo done in the venue six weeks ago. I rang two weeks later and spoke to an expert at the venue who told me I could go back and receive a free touch-up if my tattoo healed slightly faded. It did so I went back for my «free» touch-up. The owner of the shop argued with me continuously and told me that his member of staff did not tell me my touch-up was free. I did not want to get into a long drawn out argument, so I paid for my touch-up. The tattoo-ist who originally did my tattoo did my touch-up. Once he finished doing it he insisted to me that I did not follow the after care instructions and my tattoo should not have taken so long to heal and insisted that I did not know my own body. I never once accused the tattoo-ist of bad work. I am outraged by the level of appalling level of customer service here. The place has gone way down in my estimation and I will NEVER get a tattoo done there again. Whatever happened to the customer is always right?

I like to do plenty of research, comparisons, and create detailed itineraries when I travel. I map out casual eats, bib gourmands, and a few fine dining establishments(on the off-chance I don’t shop). With backup plans available, I usually know how to work with unusual circumstances that might throw things a little off balance. Except for that year of ’07. It was a year of spontaneity as I wandered through Europe, intentionally getting lost between the many spots I’d intended to see. I had been wanting a tattoo: Carpe Diem in Devanagari script(prepared in advance, of course). I knew I wanted it in the city where so much was discovered — London. When none of my top 4 choices for reputable tattoo studios could do it for me within the 3 hour slot I had on my last day in the city, I nearly panicked. In the sentiment of seizing the day, I stopped at a total of 7 before finally ending up at A.S.K. It was 2 hours before Phantom of the Opera, and I was in a time crunch. Awful as it may sound, what I prioritized above all else was cleanliness and professionalism. Artistic talent wasn’t an issue since I knew exactly what I wanted — and it was TINY. They fit the bill.(Although I can see now they’re also very good.) The place was pretty empty, except for the two rather relaxed guys that worked there. They asked for my ID, looked at the picture I’d been carrying around with me in my phone, then explained to me how taking care of the tattoo would work. I needed to keep it dry, so they’d protect it with a saran wrap type thing for the first so many hours, then I’d apply a cream to make sure it didn’t get infected. Within 15 minutes, I was on the chair. Within 30, I was out of there. I recall asking the artist that worked with me, «Would you mind letting me know when you’re going to start so I can mentally prepare myself?» He said, «I already started.» Apparently, it doesn’t hurt to get in done on your upper back. I will add, he’s also very polite. Sadly, I didn’t realize until I was in India 3 weeks later that one tiny line(where the«eh» was) was pointing the wrong way. I confirmed with my picture and nope, the picture I gave him had it right. Was that an attempt to add his own personal touch? Human error? It’s a bit too late to go back to A.S.K. now, so maybe a little laser and a touch-up can fix it at some point. That was August of ’07, and 32 months later, it still looks pretty alright.
