Deco and space very typical of Wagamammas, so no complaints there, however the staff are very much on the lax side. It was late lunch and only a couple of other customers seated, but even getting our order taken seemed to take ages. I orders the Duck Gyoza which were interesting, and very tasty with the plum sauce. However the Kyatsu was dismal. No potatoes or carrots, a very bland sauce and generally not very appetising. I think I’ve just been spoilt by Glasgows abundance of Japanese restaurants in the city, so now chains like Wagamamas, which I used to enjoy, seem inadequate. Or it could be that this particular chain is abysmal. They did however allow us to spilt the bill even when paying by card. That’s pretty much the most positive thing I have to say about my experience there.

A typical wagamama, clean and spacious, and not that busy on a Thursday afternoon. I’ve eaten in the chain before and expect consistent results. Sadly that’s not the case here. Unfortunately along with the glacial service — they were badly understaffed, I ordered the kare lomen, which according to the menu is a coconut, chilli, and lemongrass soup, filled with ramen noodles and topped with cucumber, beansprouts and coriander. In this case the dish was most notable for the complete absence of lemongrass, cucumber, and the presence of one small sprig of coriander. A big disappointment.

Not the best Wagas, spacious, airy, clean and bright is pretty much it. Stood waiting for a bit to get a table, sat down and no drinks order was taken while we waited for friends — or, for that matter, before our meal orders were taken. Hubby had tori kare age and yaki soba, I had pork ribs and chicken katsu curry. Hubby was happy enough, but I wasn’t a fan of the ribs at all really. Friends had to send back a couple of things, miso soup pot was barely half full, wrong pickles for the soup, wrong this, wrong that and the waitress wasn’t hugely attentive. Service from both floor staff and kitchen staff let them down today!

Was starving after wlking around the mall. I got the tropical juice and the wagamama ramen. Slow service. We waited 15 minutes for a bowl of ramen and curry rice dish. Ramen was average. The rice in the curry dish was not fully cooked — bad mistake! We asked for the bill… waited 10 minutes for that. Another staff asked us if we needed anything, we say, we asked for our bill 10 minutes ago. He went to get it. We didn’t bother waiting for our change because god knows when they will come back.

restaurant like wagamama which u can see it all over the country, unfortunately this isnt a good one from my experience, i used to go to wagamama in canary wharf in london about five times a week, it is my first time since i move to Edinburgh, i was bit excited however i and my wife waited about 20 or 25 mins for the food coming given it is not very busy that time, i ordered the usual chicken katsu curry and my wife ordered wagamama ramen, the curry is fine but little bit spicy, and the rice is slightly under cook. I have also tried to find a waiter serve me another glass of water but theres nobody available. After i called the bill we have been waited for another 10 mins until another waiter coming ask us if we want something. Overall i think the service was disgusting and the food was reasonable. Wont come again

So here’s the thing … I like this place. I think the food is tasty, fresh and pretty different for Scotland. The super thick noodles are especially good. As is the choice of Ramen. My one major gripe is the friggin cost. Two main courses, a small dish of edamame and a small bottle of beer shouldn’t cost 40 pounds(~$ 70). Especially a restaurant in the Livvy shopping centre. Come on Wagamama — don’t get above your station, ya hear?

Seafood Raman was disappointing. Whilst the quality of seafood was good, especially the squid, the prawns had been marinated in a dark substance which made them look unappetizing but adding nothing to the flavour. A generally unexciting experience.

Part of the Wagamama chain(obviously) but I just thought I’d mention how AWESOME it is. I went in with a mate for dinner, no reservation, on a Saturday night. They squeezed us on the end of one of the larger benches. At first we felt quite awkward as we were obviously crashing someones(large) birthday meal. They had just sat down before us, so we were quite worried that our food would take ages. But it didn’t — we were served before they were! Once we were done, we made some polite conversation with the people to our right, then suddenly a birthday cake was brought out for the birthday girl, and we sang along, in true birthday spirit(the staff joined in too!) — the girl took a bow, and afterwards, even offered us some cake! Great banter. Anyway, the food was amazing, we didn’t wait more than 15 minutes for it, we made new friends, and got some cake. All in all a good experience.
